For Sale With Reduced Price: DC-3A With Airframe Spares, Extra Engine

1940 Douglas DC-3A S/N 2239 (N28AA) is available for sale with a newly reduced price.

It was the fifth DC-3A delivered to Braniff Airways in 1940 as N25666. In April 1953 the aircraft was sold to Trans Texas Airways who operated it for the next 15 years. It then flew with various airlines including Eastern Express Airlines, a subsidiary of Eastern Airlines. It was eventually acquired by the late Ron Alexander, who performed an overhaul of the machine, installing a new passenger interior and applying the polished / painted finish. It was sold to the current owner in 2017.

The airframe reportedly has 83,025 TTSN while the two Pratt & Whitney R-1830 engines have 930 and 1479 SMOH. It includes an avionics package, “numerous airframe spares,” and a spare R-1830 engine w/ 650 hrs SMOH.​

Douglas DC-3A Offered For Sale With “Numerous Airframe Spares,” Extra Engine

1940 Douglas DC-3A S/N 2239 (N28AA) has hit the market.

Douglas C-47C N4550J (S/N 6055) is available for sale.

The aircraft entered service in 1942, operating with US Command North Africa and the 9th US Army Air Force based in France. Following WW2, it served with Aigle Azur Airlines as well as various French and African operators before returning to the US in 1983. In 2015 it was acquired by the Russian Aviation Company and flown to Russia.

Features dual control and flight panel, electric loading winch and a wide cargo door. Heated cabin. Documents are available. Avgas 100LL consumption at the cruise speed of 200 km/h and load of 2,000 kg is 380 liters. Good condition of exterior skin and interior. Technically sound. Airframe: Total flight hours – 31,200 hours. No service life limit. Condition-based use. No major damage has been suffered. Engines: 2xPratt-Whitney R-1830-90D, 1,200 h.p. each, time between overhaul – 1,600 hours, time to overhaul – 1,099/1,006 (left/right). Propellers: automatic Hamilton Standard Hydromatic 23E50, time between overhaul – 2,000 hours, residual life – 1,708/1,708 (left/right).

A “one of a kind, corporate configured” Douglas DC-3 (S/N 34378 / NC33611) is available for sale. The listing states (in part):

One of a kind corporate configured 1945 Douglas DC-3. S/N 34378 is the former transport of the Columbia Broadcasting System, Outboard and Marine Manufacturing and EAA. Low total time with only 17,896 hours. This DC-3 was the last of its model to operate carrying passengers for a Part 121 Air Carrier on the US registry and also has a number of historic aviation figures in its logbook such as Paul Poberezney and Jimmy Leeward to name a few. S/N 34378 was the cover for Flying Magazine in August 1981 and AOPA Magazine in December 2016. This is a rare turn-key opportunity to purchase an exceptionally cared for DC-3 with spare parts and support equipment.

1942 DC-3/C-49K Airframe Project With WW2 Service Offered For Sale

A 1942 Douglas DC-3 / C-49K airframe project is available for sale.

Aircraft was built as a DC3 before the war, then modified as a C-49K and impressed into service. After the war she served with multiple passenger airlines. In 1956 she was converted into an executive transport role (we have the layout). Her most recent iteration was a cargo role.

According to the listing, the aircraft served as part of Air Transport Command during WW2, being sent to Morrison Field in West Palm Beach Florida for use in the 27th AAF Ferrying Wing. It reportedly flew in the D-Day 50th anniversary flight but was damaged by a tornado in 2008, having sat ever since. 1944 DC-3 S/N 26133 (N211GB) has hit the market. The listing states (in part):

This aircraft is currently available as-is without engines and props. It was purchased to be used for a children’s program and is currently in a small field. The airframe is in great shape with all radios and instruments. Engines and props are available and negotiable.

The aircraft reportedly has a total time of 23479. Although currently being offered as-is, the listing states that Restored Aircraft “will be happy to return the aircraft to service with a fresh annual inspection and customized to your specifications.” Available engines are described as PW 1830-90D types with 464.2 TSO and 593.4 TSO.

Three C-47 / DC-3 Aircraft Offered For Sale

Three C-47/DC-3 aircraft have hit the market.

The collection reportedly consists of three airframes (C-47-DL S/N 9053 – N47FJ, C-47B-5-DK S/N 14511 – N51938 and DC-3-455 S/N 6325 – N486C) as well as six PW R1830 engines.

According to the descriptions, N47FJ was constructed in 1943 and served with the US Army Air Corps in Algeria as well as with the 9th Air Force in England, where it flew sorties in support of the D-Day landings. It last flew in 1990 and has a TTSN of 22,322.75.

N51938 was built in 1944 and originally delivered to the US Navy, serving as an executive transport. It last flew in 1982 and has a TTSN of 21,259.

N486C was built for American Airlines in 1942, but ended up serving with Air Transport Command during WW2. It was later acquired by Eastern Airlines. It last flew in 1990 and has a TTSN of 48,962.

Douglas C-47A D-Day and Market Garden Veteran Offered For Sale

A 1944 Douglas C-47A / DC-3C D-Day and Market Garden veteran has hit the market.

This C-47A-5-DK was reportedly built in January 1944 by Douglas Aircraft Company at their plant in Oklahoma City and has the manufacturer serial number 12253 and tail number 42-92451. It was assigned by the USAAF on January 24, 1944, and was taken on charge by the Royal Air Force (RAF) at Dorval, Montreal, QC on February 4th 1944. It received RAF registration FZ668 and was ferried to England and assigned to 271 Squadron.

The listing states (in part):

Aircraft condition: Project, not airworthy, sold as is and without warranty. The aircraft is sold without engines / propellers / instruments / seats / elevators. Airframe: 43354 hours. No logbook but enough documents to get a new one issued. Airframe is in good condition and can be restored to airworthy condition. The buyer must pay a non refundable $750 deposit within 48h after the end of the auction.
