Affordable, “Nearly Complete” T-28A Trojan Project Offered For Sale

A T-28A Trojan project (S/N 51-7703) has hit the market. The aircraft is described as unmodified from the original version, which was “transferred to Mexico as number 31 of 88 aircraft to upgrade it’s Air Force in the 1950s.” The listing states (in part):

The project is nearly complete with the only major items canabolized prior to return to the US being the instrument panels and radios. The flight controls and side panels are intact with associated controls, switches, breakers. lights etc. It just requires a new front and rear plate for the intrument panels and the assocaited intruments. I do have some loose intruments including the fuel gages, MAP, and flap indicator and landing gear indicators from the aircraft as well as the left and right front windshield plastics. The structure is all present and generally sound with good zinc chromating of the interior fuselage, wings and tail surfaces. It is a restoration project with a number of dents some metal gouges from handling and shipping. It also has some corrosion of a few extrusions characterisitic of it’s age. Nothing that isn’t easily replaced and none in the spars or other major structural elements

The project is also said to include two Curtiss Wright R-1300-1B engines, and although both are in need of overhaul, they provide “a great set of parts including all engine accessories” and “much redundancy.”

An extensive collection of consisting of “5+ Bell P-39 Airacobra combat veterans of the Pacific war” have hit the market. The aircraft are listed as “damaged, repairable, rebuildable, combat veteran aircraft” and are described as follows:

P-39D 41-69xx, main fuselage with nose cut off but present, wing sections present but cut up, tail section cut but good fittings patterns. full history of the aircraft available. Previously used by the NACA. P-39L unknown s/n consisting of forward fuselage from cockpit floor to gearbox attach, many usable parts, “scrapped” very recently by a crazy farmer. P-39F 41-71xx tail section including several ft of rear fuselage, vertical usable with minor repairs/reskin. P-39Q fuselage, center section, cabin, engine mount section, nose sections present but cut off by the US Army. P-39Q hulk, center section full of original fittings, extrusions etc. P-39Q parts only/de riveted for patterns.

World’s Only Flying Ford 5-AT-C Trimotor Offered For Sale

A 1928/29 Ford 5-AT-C Trimotor (S/N 74 / N414H) touted as the “only one flying in the world” has hit the market. The listing states (in part):

1928 Ford 5AT-C Trimotor, A Very Historic And Original Trimotor, S/N 74, 16,508 TTSN, Low Time Engines, Compete Records, Former Grand Canyon Airlines Plane… This aircraft is serial number 74, the 155th Ford Tri-motor built. Its first flight was September 4, 1929. It operated as a Ford Motor Company factory demonstrator aircraft. During this period the aircraft was equipped with twin metal floats, accumulating 249 hours as a seaplane. This aircraft has complete records and history since delivery.

The machine is described as “very historic and original” and “in excellent condition.” Its three Pratt & Whitney R-985 engines have 16.5 SMOH by Aero Engines, 368.5 SMOH by Covington Engines and 287.3 SMOH by Aero Engines.
