World’s Only Dual Control, Two Seat Hawker Hurricane Offered For Sale

1944 Hawker Hurricane IIB G-HHII (S/N R20023), touted as “the world’s only dual control two seat Hawker Hurricane” has hit the market.

The aircraft was manufactured by the Canadian Car & Foundry Company in 1942 and served with the RCAF until 1944. It then passed through a succession of owners, including Tony Ditheridge of Hawker Restorations, who restored it to a fighter-bomber configuration in the markings of BE505 of 174 (Mauritius) Squadron. The machine was acquired by the Hangar 11 Collection in 2007 and performed its first post-restoration flight in 2009. The aircraft is described as a “documented Battle of Britain veteran” operated by 501 Sqn in September 1940. It is equipped with Rolls Royce Merlin III engine with 11.45 Hrs SMOH by Maurice Hammond of Eye Tech Engineering. The prop is a Hamilton Standard 23E50-495 with 11.45 Hrs SPOH.

New Kits Reproduce Sopwith Pup “Exactly As It Was 100 Years Ago”

France-based Replic Aero is now offering Sopwith Pup kits that reportedly allow you to “assemble your plane exactly as it was 100 years ago.”

“The metal parts are ready to bend and weld, all the wood parts are ready to be adjusted (for some) and assembled. The Sopwith Pup is available as a complete kit, as a series of sub-kits or as portions of a sub-kit. The Sopwith Pup being assembled is for sale, Ready to cover or covered, the engine and the instruments are the choice of the future owner. Also possible ‘ready to fly.'”

An F4U-1 Vought Sikorsky “Birdcage” Corsair project has hit the market.

Described as one of the most rare and desirable warbird projects, the offering consists of two shipping containers full of parts, and includes the rear fuselage and inner wings/landing gears of BuNo 02608; the main spar and outer wings from 02270; all additional parts from the 02608 crash site; all of the additional parts from 02270 that weren’t incorporated in it’s restoration, and many templates from the restoration of 02270. I started to build the plane but due to some life changes I am going to offer it up at auction… This is for a partially built kit only. The Fuselage is 75% built and the Rudder is completed. Both section are well done. If you prefer to start from scratch Airdrome Aerplanes will sell you the just these sub-kits. It’s all there still in the original shipping crate. Instructions and dvd’s are included. all parts are labeled and the kit is very build able (not a big mess). Great big wing, perfect for a smaller 4-stroke engine. Easy & fun flyer. I understand it needs to be a good value to sell so I am starting the bidding off at $499.99. The kit cost new over $5500.00. Does not include engine or prop.

MiG-21UM Cockpit For Sale: “Museum Quality, Autographed by Ace Pilots”

A “museum quality,” two-seat MiG-21UM cockpit section “autographed by Ace pilots” has hit the market. The listing states (in part):

MiG-21UM 9354. It spent half of its life in the Warsaw pact then the last half with NATO. It is autographed by US Air Force Ace “Chuck DeBellevue and US Navy ace” Duke” Cunningham, both of whom gave presentations with the cockpit. Photos are included of them both signing the cockpit and of DeBellevue sitting in the cockpit. The cockpit interior is in beautiful and original condition

The cockpit is described as including a custom built metal stand with caster wheels, a boarding stair platform, an original Polish MiG-21 boarding ladder, an original Polish MiG-21 nose intake cover, white LED cockpit floodlights for museum settings and more.
