For Sale: 2/3 Sal/Falco P-51 “Nearing Completion”

A 2/3 scale Sal/Falco P-51 is available for sale. The listing states:

2/3 scale nearing completion. LS-1 engine, 4-blade prop with PSRU and ignition system. Like new condition engine. Includes a digital com radio. Nacogdoches, TX I do have the prop spinner. Prop is ground adjustable. HiVo chain prop speed reduction unit. This is not a kit. This plans built plane has never been flown, never had a different engine but will also take a ranger engine. Have cowlings for Ranger engine-cowlings for the LS-1 have not been fabricated. Never been damaged. Wings removed easily for transport.

Modelsvit Reveals Design For Upcoming P-51H Kit

Modelsvit has announced that the design process for their upcoming P-51H Mustang has been accomplished.

The company states that the 1/48 kit will include “2 cockpit’s clear parts (Open/Closed canopy), flaps could be adjusted in 2 possitions.” Additional details remain scarce, although a number of screenshots have been released, additional examples of which can be seen below.

A previous report indicated that the model would be released sometime in 2019.

Newly Restored Mosquito PZ474 Arrives At New Home [Video]

Texas-based Lewis Air Legends has reported the arrival of their newly restored de Havilland Mosquito PZ474, which is one of only four airworthy examples of the type in the world.

As previously reported, the Mosquito FB VI was originally constructed at Hatfield in 1945 and was used for RAF training before serving with 75 Squadron in New Zealand as NZ2384. In the 1950s and 60s the machine was owned by the Insurance Finance Corp. of Studio City, CA, and is believed to have been used by the CIA for intelligence gathering in South America. Eduard to Release New 1/72 Spitfire HF Mk.VIII Model Kit

Eduard has announced the upcoming release of a Spitfire HF Mk.VIII model kit in 1/72 scale.

The kit (70129) will be released as a ProfiPACK edition and reportedly includes Eduard plastic parts, Photoetched details and marking options for five aircraft, including JF476 of No. 92 Squadron, JF519 of No. 1 Squadron, JF404, No. 32 Squadron, JF630 of No. 81 Squadron, and a livery representing 308th Fighter Squadron, 31st Fighter Group.

Kermit Weeks Shares March 2019 Messerschmitt Bf 108 Update [Video]

Following up on a two-part series released last month, Kermit Weeks has posted a new video update on the restoration of his 1936 Messerschmitt Bf 108.

The update serves as an installment of Fantasy of Flight’s Mechanic’s Corner and features restoration specialist Paul Stecewycz detailing recent work to the wings, which have been stripped and put into fixtures for skin removal, as well as the control surfaces, cockpit glass, and cockpit instruments.

New Views of Aeroplane Heaven’s Heinkel He 111 as Release Draws Near

In a recent update, flight simulation developer Aeroplane Heaven states that their Heinkel He 111 P2 is nearing release.

As previously reported, the aircraft is being developed for FSX/SE, P3DV3+ and P3DV4+ and is said to offer a high fidelity model with “an enormous amount of authentic detail.” Additional features reportedly include a fully animated complex control systems for rudder, aileron and elevator, “secret” modern navigation suite fitted to the cockpit for IFR navigation, highly realistic, animated pilot, bomb-aimer and mid/upper gunner, detailed Daimler Benz V12 engine under removable nacelle panels and authentic stereo sound pack with the signature “out of sync” engine throb at full throttle. The listing states that the machine is in “very good” and “flight” condition with water bomber equipment installed. The airframe has reportedly amassed 7193 hrs while its two Pratt & Whitney R-1830-92 engines have 243 and 127 hrs.

Kermit Weeks Films Visit With Possible New Acquisition: Polikarpov I-16

Kermit Weeks has posted a new video detailing his recent trip to the old CAF Museum in Midland, Texas to examine an available Polikarpov I-16 that he was considering purchasing.

The I-16 was the last of Nikolai Polikarpov’s fighter designs to enter production. An aircraft of revolutionary design, the I-16 was the first monoplane fighter with an enclosed cockpit and retractable landing gear to enter front line service anywhere in the world. It’s operational status introduced a new standard to fighter design.

According to the original listing, the aircraft (N30425 / S/N 2421645) was rebuilt in Russia by the original factory for the New Zealand-based Alpine Fighter Collection.
