Airfix Releases New “Civilian Schemes” Spitfire FR Mk.XIV Kit

Airfix has released its new 1/48 Spitfire FR Mk.XIV model kit which features racing liveries.

The offering (A05139) is based on the new tool FR Mk.XIV kit (A05135) released in 2019 and includes marking options for G-FIRE, (Duxford, Cambridgeshire, England, 1988) and CF-GMZ (‘Edmonton Canada, The Crossroads of the World’, Canada, 1949).

Airfix to Release Spitfire FR Mk.XIV Kit With Racing Liveries

Airfix has announced the upcoming release of a new 1/48 Spitfire FR Mk.XIV model kit with racing liveries.

The soon to be released offering (A05139) is based on the new tool FR Mk.XIV kit (A05135) released in 2019 and includes two marking options representing post-war racing machines:

Scheme A – Supermarine Spitfire FR Mk.XIV G-FIRE, Duxford, Cambridgeshire, England, 1988
Scheme B – Supermarine Spitfire FR Mk.XIV, CF-GMZ ‘Edmonton Canada, The Crossroads of the World’, Canada, 1949

Airfix Releases New Tool Spitfire FR Mk.XIV Model Kit

Airfix has released its new tool Spitfire FR Mk.XIV model kit in 1/48 scale.

The kit (A05135) was developed with the aid of “a vast collection of research materials, original drawings and photographs relating to Spitfire production” as well as computer base model shape data from their Spitfire Mk.1 kit released in 2014.

Two liveries are included which represent TZ112 and NH902 VC-P ‘Lazy Lady V’, flown by Squadron Leader James Bernard Prendergast of 414 Squadron, RCAF.

Airfix Releases First Images of New Tool Spitfire FR Mk.XIV in “Lead Scheme”

Airfix has released an update on its upcoming new tool Spitfire FR Mk.XIV in 1/48 scale.

The update offers the first images of the completed model wearing its “lead scheme option” representing NH902 VC-P ‘Lazy Lady V’, flown by Squadron Leader James Bernard Prendergast of 414 Squadron, RCAF. This particular livery was worn by the machine when Prendergast scored his double Fw 190 kill on May 2, 1945 and when he was flying on VE Day.

The kit (A05135) was developed with the aid of “a vast collection of research materials, original drawings and photographs relating to Spitfire production” as well as computer base model shape data from their Spitfire Mk.1 kit released in 2014. A second livery representing TZ112 will also be included.

Airfix To Release New Tool Spitfire FR Mk.XIV Model Kit

On Moday, Airfix added their 2019 range of products to their website, providing an excellent look at some exciting new tool kits, such as their upcoming 1/24 F6F Hellcat and this 1/48 Spitfire FR Mk.XIV.

As previously reported, the kit (A05135) was developed with the aid of “a vast collection of research materials, original drawings and photographs relating to Spitfire production” as well as computer base model shape data from their Spitfire Mk.1 kit released in 2014. The new listing suggests that liveries will be included for NH902 “Lazy Lady V,” and TZ112, although the company points out that colors and contents of products may vary.

The new Spitfire kit is slated for release in March and is currently available for pre-order. Click below to check out additional images.

Airfix Announces New Tool 1/48 Spitfire Mk.XIV Model Kit

Airfix has announced its first new tool kit for 2019 in the form of a 1/48 Spitfire FR Mk.XIV.

The kit (A05135) is being developed with the aid of “a vast collection of research materials, original drawings and photographs relating to Spitfire production” as well as computer base model shape data from their Spitfire Mk.1 kit released in 2014.

The kit is currently slated for release sometime in the new year, although the company hopes to have a prototype sample model of the kit on display at November’s Scale ModelWorld Show at Telford.
