HpH Models Announce Development of 1/32 Westland Wyvern Kit

HpH Models has announced their next new project: a Westland Wyvern in 1/32 scale.

The Wyvern employed a tractor configuration similar to that of the Bell P-39 Airacobra, with the engine located behind the pilot. It entered service with the British in 1953, acting as a carrier-based strike aircraft and seeing action in Operation Musketeer during the 1956 Suez Crisis. It was withdrawn from active duty in 1958.

At the moment little is known about the new kit, although several images have been released which can be seen below.

Modelcollect Announces Upcoming Release of New Tool A-12 Oxcart

Modelcollect has announced the development of a new tool A-12 Oxcart model kit.

Details are scarce at the moment, with only the above box art having been released. Reports have stated that the kit is being developed in 1/72 scale, although Modelcollect noted in a Facebook comment that the scale is actually 1/48.

The new A-12 is currently slated for release some time in 2019.

A 1946 Beechcraft D18-S has hit the market. The listing states (in part):

NO RESERVE 1946 Beech D18-S time capsule. In storage as seen in photos since 1991 when owner lost medical. Engines turn freely. Airframe is immaculate and low time. Original autopilot installed. Incredible piece of history. Has spar strap, metalized control surfaces. Digital Cd from faa available with all 337’s. logbooks have been lost. Will require all ad’s complied with. Aircraft is registered in my name. Original interior including rare cabin to cockpit door normally removed.

Airfix to Release New Tool Hawker Hunter F.6 Model Kit

Airfix has announced the upcoming release of their new tool Hawker Hunter F.6 model kit (A09185) in 1/48 scale.

Originally entering service with the RAF in 1954, the Hunter went on to operate with a large number of countries and in a number of conflicts. Its design arguably peaked with the Rolls-Royce Avon 203-powered F.6 variant, which is described as “the definitive interceptor version of the Hunter.”

The kit’s livery options have reportedly changed since initial reports and are now said to include XE597/A of 63 Squadron (Commander’s aircraft specially marked for the 1958 Battle of Britain display), XF509/73 of 4 Flying Training School and N-209 of 324 Squadron.

The expected release date has also changed from October to December, although pre-orders are now being accepted. Click below to check out additional images.

1951 Canadian Car & Foundry Harvard Mk IV N52494 (S/N CCF4-387) has hit the market. The listing states:

Beautifully Polished And Well Maintained Harvard Mk IV. Flown Regularly. Needs Nothing.

The airframe reportedly has a total time of 5,000 hrs, while the Pratt & Whitney R-1340 has 490 SMOH by Aero Engines. Additional features include an avionics package, preoiler, Redline wheels and brakes, new seats and original exhaust.

AD-4 Skyraider With Only 148 Hrs Since Restoration Offered For Sale

Douglas AD-4 Skyraider F-AZHK (B/N 127002) has hit the market.

The machine has reportedly amassed only 148 hours since receiving an airframe restoration and overhaul of its Wright R3350 26WD engine. It is also touted as offering an avionics package and “excellent spares and support equipment.”

The aircraft wears the colors of French Air Force Squadron 1/20 Aures Nementcha during Algerian War (1961-1972). It is located in France, where it operates under French Historic Certification, and is currently being offered for $675,000. Click here to check out the complete listing.

Airfix Releases New 1/72 Handley Page Victor SR.2 / K.2

Airfix has released their new Handley Page Victor K.2 model kit in 1/72 scale.

The new kit is the second incarnation of their Victor tooling, the first being a B.2 bomber version (A12008) equipped with an under-fuselage mounted “Blue Steel” nuclear missile. This new release (A12009) offers new parts to represent the SR.2 reconnaissance Victor, or one of the final aircraft to see RAF service, the K.2 tanker. It reportedly boasts three marking options, including XL231 “Lusty Lindy” of No.55 Squadron, XH669 Black Buck Raids/No.57 Squadron and XL193 Operation Attune/543 Squadron.

An extremely rare, post-WW2 Boeing YL-15 Scout (N4770C) has hit the market. The listing states:

The last one of 12 L-15s, built Mar.8,1949 at Boeing Wichita, KS. This is the only airworthy example of the remaining 7. N4770C was awarded Grand Champion Warbird Post WW II, at Airventure 2017. I received the Gold Wrench Award for the Restoration. Included with the sale of 70C is a 2nd wrecked YL-15, S/N 47-423, lots of new old stock spare parts, the Restricted Aircraft Type Certificate (transferable) & approx 3000 digitized blueprints. Boeing’s last piston, prop, man carrying design. Built for observation, liaison, & forward air control. Family owned since Feb.1954. Be the next caretaker!

Airfix Releases New Gloster Meteor FR.9 Model Kit

Airfix has released their new Gloster Meteor FR.9 model kit in 1/48 scale.

The FR.9 was based on the F.8 fighter variant and served as an armed reconnaissance machine, equipped with an elongated nose housing a Williamson F.24 camera as well as external wing and ventral fuel tanks for increased range.

The new kit (A09188) is reportedly based on the new tool F.8 kit (A09182) released in 2016 and comes with two livery options representing WL263 of 208 Squadron and WB116/G of 2 squadron.
