Tamiya to Release “One Shot Production Run” P-38H Masterpiece Kit

Tamiya has announced the upcoming release of a new P-38H Lightning model kit in 1/48 scale.

The kit (25199) offers a bevy of new parts to replicate the type, including larger supercharger intakes, rear canopy without reinforcing frames, instrumentation, nose landing gear strut and bay covers, main landing gear reinforcements, upgraded 20mm cannon and 12.7mm machine guns that were often modified on the ground, plus turbocharger coolant pipe. It also includes weights for accurate balance and display and a detailed cockpit with wheel-type controls, radio, throttle box and more.

One marking option will be included representing 432nd Fighter Squadron, part of the 475th Fighter Group that was devastatingly effective from 1943-44 over the Pacific. A canopy painting mask is also included as well as a full-color painting guide.

The new offering will reportedly be available as a limited edition masterpiece kit with only one production run. It will be released in a white box format beginning sometime in late July. Click below to check out additional images.

YouTuber Guillermo Rojas Bazán (rojasbazan) has published the first in a series of videos detailing his amazing Ju87 B-1 Stuka model.

The model is described as “total scratch built aluminum construction” in 1/16 scale. The first part of the proposed three part series details the materials and construction of the model, with a close look at the stunning level of detail incorporated into the project.

Zvezda Releases Renderings of Upcoming C-130H “Full New Kit”

Zvezda has released a series of renderings detailing their upcoming C-130H Hercules model kit in 1/72 scale.

The offering is described as a “full new kit,” although additional details, including contents, liveries, pricing and an expected release date, appear to be absent at the moment.

ICM Releases New Do 217J-1/2 Night Fighter Model Kit

ICM has released its new Do 217J-1/2 model kit in 1/48 scale.

According to Scalemates, the offering (48272) is based on ICM’s new tool Do 217N-1 kit (48271). The new kit is touted as offering highly detailed engines and cockpit interior as well as marking options for four machines.

Eduard to Release Limited Edition B-26 “Wine, Women & Song” Model Kit

Eduard has announced the upcoming release of a limited edition B-26B/C Marauder “Wine, Women & Song” model kit in 1/72 scale.

The kit (2129) reportedly contains Hasegawa plastic parts, Eduard Brassin wheels, photo etched details, painting mask and nine marking options for 9th and 12th USAAFB-26B/C in ETO and MTO service.

Arma Releases New Tool FM-2 Wildcat “Expert Set” Model Kit

Arma Hobby has released its new tool FM-2 Wildcat “Expert Set” model kit in 1/72 scale.

As previously reported, the model will reportedly be released in three boxings, including an FM-2 Wildcat Expert Set (70031), Wildcat Mk VI Model Kit (70032) and FM-2 Wildcat Model Kit (70033). The project will also continue into the F4F-4 Wildcat version at some point.

The new Expert Set kit appears to boast photo etched details and marking options for six machines, including aircraft of VC-8, VC-10, VC-69, VC-96 and 882 Squadron.

Kineticmodel Announces Release Date for New F/TF-104G Starfighter Kit

Kineticmodel has announced the upcoming release of their new F/TF-104G Starfighter model kit in 1/48 scale.

The new product (48089) is reportedly based on Kinetic’s new tool F-104G (48083) released last year, and appears to include photo-etched parts and Cartograf decals. It is also labeled as “2 in 1,” which reportedly means that the kit allows either the single or two seat F-104G to be built.

The new F/TF-104G is currently slated to become available by the end of June 2020.

Special Hobby Shares First Test Shots of Upcoming 1/32 Westland Whirlwind Kit

Special Hobby has shared the first test photos of their upcoming Westland Whirlwind Mk.1 model kit in 1/32 scale.

The newly released images show the first test shot of wing and engine nacelle molds, as well as the first raw wing sprue fit test. According to the company, corrections are necessary, but it looks good.

As previously reported, the molds are reportedly being created using an electroplating process, sometimes also known as galvanic deposition. The kit’s (SH32047) development has been talked about for some time in the modeling community and its release is anxiously awaited.

AZmodel To Release 4 “Complete New Tool” DH 103 Hornet Model Kits

AZmodel has announced the upcoming release of “complete new tool” model kits of the DH.103 Hornet.

The 1/72 kits will represent the F.Mk.I (AZ7651), PR.Mk.2 (AZ7652), F.Mk.3 (AZ7653) and FR.Mk.4 (AZ7654). At the moment additional details are scarce, although the kits are reportedly slated for release in June/July. Box art images are also available, additional examples of which can be seen below.
