This is truly a one of a kind P-51 Mustang Pedal Car Reno Air Racer Boomer II. This pedal car was made from the patterns and kit sold by EAA. It was built for my husband by a wonderful homebuilder who my husband believed was the best homebuilder he ever knew. It is painted as the mustang Boomer II that my husband raced in the Reno National Air Races. Condition is very good. It has only been pedaled around inside the hangar a few times by our granddaughter and has been up on this cabinet for the last few years.

‘Tis The Season: “Custom Built” 1988 AT-6 Pedal Plane Offered For Sale

A “custom built” 1988 AT-6 pedal plane has been spotted for sale. The listing states (in part):

This was custom built from a kit by Pedal Planes of Houston by Jim Wittkamp from a kit made by Aviation Products out of Cedar Rapids, IA. This kit is known as the ‘Oshkosh 88 AT6/SNJ/Harvard’. This was first displayed at the 1988 Oshkosh Air Show… The overall plane is about 53″ wide from wingtip to wingtip and is about 52″ long from the tip of the propeller to the back of the tail wheel. The overall condition is pretty good, but could use some loving care, as there is minor plywood aging and paint missing in various locations.

National Museum of WW2 Aviation Offering P-47 Artifact Lamp From Famous 348th FG

The National Museum of World War II Aviation is currently offering “a very historical artifact” in the form of a lamp incorporating a “a turbo charger fan from an actual P-47 Razorback.” The listing states (in part):

The base of this lamp is a turbo charger fan from an actual P-47 Razorback, from the 348th Fighter Group that flew in the WWII. Led by “Medal Of Honor” recipient Col. Neel Kearby. This Group was the most successful P-47 group in the Pacific. The group scored 396 kills; over half of all the kills credited to Fifth Air Force P-47s. The group had 20 aces, including Kearby who was credited with 22 kills. With the conclusion of the war the aircraft had little value; given that factory fresh aircraft were available stateside. These combat veteran aircraft had their engines removed and were unceremoniously bulldozed into a pit. Some 55 years later, in the year 2000, Col. Neel Kearby’s plane and two others were excavated from Papua New Guinea. This turbocharger fan was excavated with those planes.

Museum of WWII Aviation Offering Clock Made From WW2 R-2800 Engine Diffuser

The National Museum of WWII Aviation in Colorado Springs, Colorado is offering a “one of a kind” clock made from an engine blower (Diffuser) from an actual WWII Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp engine.

The clock, which appears to bear an image of a P-47 and its center, is described as being “for the collector” with documentation and rare provenance. Proceeds will reportedly benefit the museum’s free K-12 Stem Educational Program.

Exceedingly Rare, Original Focke-Wulf Fw 190 D Blind Instrument Panel Offered For Sale

A blind instrument panel described as a 100% complete, original example from a Focke-Wulf Fw 190D has hit the market.

The listing notes that Fw 190 instrument panels are rare, although Fw 190 D, or “Dora” examples are even harder to find. All instruments are said to be original to the panel while wood and paint are WW2 vintage. The panel is reportedly in very good condition with the gauges still glowing in the dark after 70+ years.
