Got lots of notes & spitfire books on the project to help next person along. Not built to fly. 1945 Supermarine Spitfire Mk XVI RW382 is available for sale. The listing states (in part):

Manufactured at Castle Bromwich in 1945 as a Spitfire Mk LFVXIe; Served with the Royal Air Force until December 1954; Appeared in the ‘Battle of Britain’ film as a static airframe; RW382 has been fully restored, with an overhauled engine and propeller, flying again in 2013; Engine has 450 hours remaining to overhaul (out of 500 hours); RW382 is in outstanding condition; Aircraft to be sold with a new ‘Permit to Fly’ (valid for 12 months) and overhauled propeller

Airfix Releases New Tool Spitfire FR Mk.XIV Model Kit

Airfix has released its new tool Spitfire FR Mk.XIV model kit in 1/48 scale.

The kit (A05135) was developed with the aid of “a vast collection of research materials, original drawings and photographs relating to Spitfire production” as well as computer base model shape data from their Spitfire Mk.1 kit released in 2014.

Two liveries are included which represent TZ112 and NH902 VC-P ‘Lazy Lady V’, flown by Squadron Leader James Bernard Prendergast of 414 Squadron, RCAF.

Airfix Releases First Images of New Tool Spitfire FR Mk.XIV in “Lead Scheme”

Airfix has released an update on its upcoming new tool Spitfire FR Mk.XIV in 1/48 scale.

The update offers the first images of the completed model wearing its “lead scheme option” representing NH902 VC-P ‘Lazy Lady V’, flown by Squadron Leader James Bernard Prendergast of 414 Squadron, RCAF. This particular livery was worn by the machine when Prendergast scored his double Fw 190 kill on May 2, 1945 and when he was flying on VE Day.

The kit (A05135) was developed with the aid of “a vast collection of research materials, original drawings and photographs relating to Spitfire production” as well as computer base model shape data from their Spitfire Mk.1 kit released in 2014. A second livery representing TZ112 will also be included.

The kit is currently slated for release at the end of the month. Click below to check out additional photos.

Eduard Announces Development of Spitfire Mk. Vb, Additional Variants

Eduard has shared a series of images suggesting that a new line of 1/48 Spitfire kits is in the works. In a recent post, the company states:

Láďa Jonáš is finalizing the design of a Spitfire Mk. Vb. Other Spitfire versions – Mk.I, Mk.II, Mk.Va, Mk.Vc, Seafire as well as Spitfires Mk.VI and Mk.VII, are also a part of the project.

Watch BBMF’s Spitfire PM631 Perform Its First Flight Since 2014 [Video]

Yesterday, Battle of Britain Memorial Flight’s (BBMF) Spitfire Mk XIX PM631 returned to the air for the first time sine 2014.

The aircraft was originally built by Vickers-Armstrong in 1945 but did not see action in WW2. In 1951 it was assigned to Meteorological Research Flight and conducted temperature and humidity flights until 1957, when it became part of BBMF. It went on to fly in the 1968 film Battle of Britain and currently wears the colors of 541 Squadron, which performed photo reconnaissance over Europe from early 1944 to the end of the war. The machine was grounded in 2014 and fitted with an overhauled Griffon engine.

Yesterday’s flight was conducted by Sqn Ldr Mark Discombe, who described the machine’s handling as “sweet.” Click below to check out a video of the flight.

Spitfire PT462 “In Need of Some TLC” Following Gear Up Landing

The Aircraft Restoration Company (ARCo) has announced that Spitfire T.9 PT462 “Indy” “is in need of some TLC” following a gear up landing earlier today.

The incident reportedly occurred during an ARCo flight to Denham Aerodrome. Both the pilot and co-pilot were unharmed, although the aircraft sustained damage that will be evaluated upon its arrival back to ARCo’s Duxford facility.

The machine was originally built as a single-seat HF IX in 1942 and went on to serve with 253 Squadron in the Mediterranean as well as the Italian and Israeli Air Forces. Its remains were recovered from Israel in the early 1980s and transported to Winchester, UK, where it was rebuilt by Charles Church – being converted to a two-seat T.9 in the process. Aeroplane Heaven Announces Development of Spitfire Family for FSX, P3D

Following the release of their new Dunkirk Spitfire Mk.1A, Aeroplane Heaven has announced the “next chapter” in their tribute to the iconic type with the development of the MkV family and the MkIX.

The upcoming releases will reportedly include “A”,”B” and “C” wing variants, tropical filters, clipped-wings and cockpits finished “in all the detail of the ‘Dunkirk’ project with refinements to match the marques represented.” The developer also states that for the first time, they will introduce an optional high definition static pilot figure.

The aircraft will reportedly be ready “later in the year” and will likely be for FSX and P3D, although this could change “depending on events over the coming months.”

Airfix to Release New Quick Build D-Day Spitfire, P-51 Kits

Airfix has announced the upcoming release of new Spitfire (J6045) and P-51 (J6046) kits to coincide with the 75th anniversary of D-Day.

The kits snap together, eliminating the need for for glue or paint, and each includes a sticker sheet with a D-Day livery. Additional details, such as scale, remain a mystery.

Airfix To Release New Tool Spitfire FR Mk.XIV Model Kit

On Moday, Airfix added their 2019 range of products to their website, providing an excellent look at some exciting new tool kits, such as their upcoming 1/24 F6F Hellcat and this 1/48 Spitfire FR Mk.XIV.

As previously reported, the kit (A05135) was developed with the aid of “a vast collection of research materials, original drawings and photographs relating to Spitfire production” as well as computer base model shape data from their Spitfire Mk.1 kit released in 2014. The new listing suggests that liveries will be included for NH902 “Lazy Lady V,” and TZ112, although the company points out that colors and contents of products may vary.

The new Spitfire kit is slated for release in March and is currently available for pre-order. Click below to check out additional images.
