Flite Test Releases 1460mm P-38 Speed Build Electric Flying Model

Flite Test released a new, 57.5″ (1460 mm) speed build P-38 Lightning electric airplane kit that is described as “one of the most advanced Speed Build Kits you can build.”

The model reportedly offers a level of scale detail that has never been seen before on a Flite Test aircraft. It is further touted as carrying graceful lines in the air while tracking true, and is “a walk in the park for intermediate to advanced pilots.”

Airfix Announces Upcoming New Tool Avro Vulcan Model Kit

At the recent Scale Modelworld 2019 event in Telford, Airfix announced the development of a new tool Avro Vulcan B.2 model kit in 1/72 scale.

Although the project is relatively early in development, Airfix had a prototype model on display at their stand which reportedly represents a “significant investment for the company” and “a fascinating and rather expensive stage in the production of this magnificent new tooling.”

So far, a number of CAD renderings have been released, including an exploded part view, as well as images of the prototype model. The kit is currently slated for release in November 2020. Lukgraph to Release New, Full Resin 1/32 Sopwith Baby Model Kit

Lukgraph has announced the upcoming release of a new Sopwith Baby model kit in 1/32 scale.

The offering will reportedly be a full resin kit released in four boxed versions representing aircraft in British, French and Italian service, as well as a captured German machine complete with wooden trolley. Livery details are as follows:

In total there will be 9 paintings in 4 boxes.

32-22 3 x British schemes
32-23 2 x Italian schemes
32-24 1 x French + 2 x Norwegian schemes
32-25 1 x German scheme (captured plane)

The sets will also contain masks, photo-etched parts and bombs / Clerget 9B and Le Rhone type J engines printed directly with 3D technology. It is hoped that the kit will be ready for a December release. Click below to check out decal sheets as well as additional renderings and details.

HpH to Release Massive 1/32 B-52 Cockpit Section Model Kit

HpH Models has announced the upcoming release of a massive 1/32 B-52 Stratofortress cockpit section model kit.

The new offering will reportedly be priced at 150 Euro, although this will drop to 120 Euro when ordered together with the upcoming B-52 1/48 scale kit. The company notes that the new 1/32 scale cockpit section kit consists basically of enlarged parts from the fully detailed cockpit included with the full 1/48 offering.

Kitty Hawk Approaching Release of New Tool FJ-2 Fury Model Kit

Kitty Hawk has announced that their new tool 1/48 FJ-2 Fury model kit will be “coming real soon.”

The FJ-2 is a variant of the F-86 Sabre which was adapted for carrier use with the addition of folding wings and modified nose gear. It was introduced in 1954 and saw service with the US Navy and Marines before being phased out in 1962.

Details on the upcoming kit (KH80155) are scarce, although it is reported to include plastic sprues and decals for a number of machines. A few photos have also been released, additional examples of which can be seen below.

E-Flite Releases F-18 Hornet 80mm PNP / BNF RC Model

E-Flite has released its new F-18 Hornet 80mm EDF RC model.

As previously reported, the product is touted as offering “an all-new design with the size, scale details, functional features and performance to deliver an unmatched flying experience.” Equipped with 6S LiPo power, its V2 12-blade 80mm fan, high-RPM brushless inrunner motor and 100A ESC “deliver fantastic performance with virtually instantaneous throttle response.”

Arma Hobby Announces Upcoming New Tool Hawker Hurricane Mk IIc Model Kit

Arma Hobby has announced the upcoming release of a new tool Hawker Hurricane Mk IIc model kit in 1/72 scale.

The offering will reportedly be available in three versions, including an Expert Set (70035) Model Kit (70036) and a Trop Model Kit (70037).

First Look: AFV Club’s Upcoming U-2C Dragon Lady Early/Late Model Kit

AFV Club is slated to release a new U-2C Dragon Lady Early/Late Type model kit in 1/48 scale.

The kit (AR48114) will reportedly include landing-gear doors and airbrake that can be positioned open or closed, accurate cockpit details, appropriate”Type B” camera that can be displayed independently, two intake types, long dorsal electronics fairing and “Sugar scoop” infrared deflector. It is said to also include photo-etched parts and markings for USAF and Republic of China Air Force machines.

A final release date has not yet been announced, although the kit is described as “coming soon.”

Arma Hobby Releases New Tool Yak-1b “Expert Set” Model Kit

Arma Hobby has released their new tool Yak-1b “Expert Set” model kit in 1/72 scale.

The kit (70027) reportedly includes new plastic parts (metal molds), photo-etched parts, canopy/wheel masks and marking options for six aircraft.

The company describes the kit as “the first long-run set of metal moulds manufactured since the 1980s” and notes that its design incorporated “the experience from the Hurricane Mk I, an aeroplane with similar construction, but a larger one than Yak.
