Airfix Announces New Tool 1/48 Avro Anson Mk.I

Another new tool model to be released as part of Airfix’s 2022 range is this Avro Anson Mk.I in 1/48 scale.

The offering (A09191) will reportedly be available in three schemes and will include a choice of early “blistered” or late smooth engine cowlings, optional sloped and upright windscreen and side glazing parts, finely represented fabric and plywood textures on fuselage and wings and a fully detailed interior with structural framework and all crew stations. The model can also be built with or without the upper gun turret and nose gun.

Airfix to Release New Tool Gloster Meteor F.8

Airfix has announced their upcoming new tool Gloster Meteor F.8 model kit in 1/72 scale.

Described as “incredibly detailed,” the new offering (A04064) will include two different engine intake types, two canopy types, ventral fuel tank and drop tanks, as well as three different schemes.

First Look: Border Model’s New Tool Avro Lancaster B Mk.I/III

Border Model has released the first complete build images for their new tool Avro Lancaster model kit in 1/32 scale.

Details are limited, although the offering (BF010) reportedly includes a full interior with realistic surface detail, detailed cockpit and Merlin engines as well as high-precision copper metal machine gun barrels.

First Look: Airfix’s New Tool Hawker Tempest V

Airfix has released the first test build photos of their new tool Hawker Tempest V in 1/72 scale.

As previously reported, the offering (A02109) is being created with the aid of accurate scan data obtained from a surviving Tempest in a UK Museum as well as an abundance of additional research material. It will reportedly “incorporate lots of fine detail, even at this smaller scale and in areas of the design such as the undercarriage bays.”

The kit reportedly includes 68 parts and livery options for two machines: A02109 flown by Wing Commander Roland Prosper “Bee” Beamont of No.150 Wing and A02109 of No. 486 Squadron Royal New Zealand Air Force. As of this writing, the product has “negotiated all of its various development stages and is scheduled for release during the first quarter of 2022.”

Revell Releases New Tool SR-71A Blackbird Model Kit

Revell has released their new tool SR-71A Blackbird model kit in 1/48 scale.

Details on the new “Level 5” kit (04967) are limited, although it reportedly contains 206 parts, measures 680mm and spans 355mm. It is also touted as boasting “highly detailed surfaces, detailed cockpit” and “superbly detailed Pratt & Whitney J58 axial-flow turbojet engines.”

KōTARE Models to Release First All New 1/32 Spitfire Mk.I Since 1967

The new KōTARE model company, which includes members of the now defunct Wingnut Wings, has announced their first kit: a Battle of Britain era Spitfire Mk.I in 1/32 scale.

The upcoming offering (K32001) is described as “the first all new 1/32 Battle of Britain era Spitfire Mk.I kitset since 1967.” It is currently slated for release “later in 2022” with pricing still to be announced.

In addition to the box art, the company has also released a few renderings which can be seen below.

Arma Hobby Releases Renderings for New Tool P-51B/C Kit

Arma Hobby has released a series of renderings for their upcoming new tool P-51B/C Mustang model kit in 1/72 scale.

The “Expert Set” offering (70038) will reportedly include parts to represent the P-51 B/C, Mustang Mk III and F6C. Features include plastic parts, photo etched parts, decals with six marking options (4x USAAF 2x RAF) and masks for canopy and wheels. At the moment it appears that there is no confirmed release date.

First Look: Sample Build of Airfix’s New Tool DH Vampire F.3

Airfix has released the first sample build photos of their upcoming new tool de Havilland Vampire F.3 in 1/48 scale.

As previously reported, the upcoming kit (A06107) is comprised of 123 parts with plastic sprues and three marking options representing D.H 100 Vampire F.3 P42408, D.H 100 Vampire F.3 No. 442 “City of Vancouver” and D.H 100 Vampire F.3 No. 601 Squadron Royal Auxiliary Air Force (shown here).
