MiniArt Releases Renderings For Upcoming Fw 190D-11 Basic Kit

MiniArt has announced the upcoming release of a new Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-11 “Basic” model kit in 1/48 scale.

The Fw 190D-11 was a late-war variant, part of the “Dora” series and powered by the Junkers Jumo 213F engine with MW 50 boost. It was a heavily armed variant with two 20 mm MG 151 cannon in the wing roots and two 30 mm MK 108 cannon in the outer wings, but it was produced only in very small numbers.

The upcoming release (48072) is described as highly detailed with realistic metal surfaces and panel details and three marking options. Click below to check out additional renderings as well as box art.

MiniArt Releases New Fw 190D-9 Advanced Model Kit

MiniArt has released their new Fw 190D-9 (early production) advanced kit in 1/48 scale.

As previously reported, the early-production Fw 190D-9 was the “long-nose” development of the Fw 190A, reworked around the liquid-cooled Jumo 213 engine to improve high-altitude performance and interceptor capability. It entered Luftwaffe service in 1944 and was valued for its stronger climb and speed compared with earlier Fw 190 variants.

The kit (48044) captures the distinctive long nose profile of the “Dora” and includes additional details for an enhanced building experience, including PE parts, detailed cockpit and exterior surfaces and decals with three marking options. The company also released a basic version of the kit in May.

MiniArt Releases New Fw 190D-9 “Grünherz” Basic Model Kit

MiniArt has released their new Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9 “Grünherz” basic model kit in 1/48 scale.

This early-production late-war variant of the Fw 190 was used by Jagdgeschwader 54, whose “Green Hearts” nickname came from its Thuringian heritage. Powered by the Jumo 213 inline engine, it was built to improve high-altitude performance and became one of the Luftwaffe’s fastest and most capable piston fighters, especially in the defense of Germany in 1944–45.

As previously reported, the basic kit (48035) features distinctive late-war Luftwaffe camouflage and two mJG 54 marking options. It is described as detailed, with “clean assembly” and an accurate early production configuration. An advanced version has also been announced for future release.

Fw 190 Schlacht Units: An Illustrated History of the “Tank-Buster” and its Operations

Coming soon from Osprey Publishing and author Robert Forsyth is Fw 190 Schlacht Units (Combat Aircraft, 162), an illustrated account of the Fw 190 “tank-buster” and its operations on the Eastern, Western and Mediterranean Fronts from 1942–45.

The Fw 190 offered the Luftwaffe a reliable successor to the Ju 87 Stuka, able to operate from primitive forward airfields in both the freezing winters of the Soviet Union and the desert heat of North Africa. Converted by Focke-Wulf from a radial-engined fighter into a deadly fighter-bomber and ground-attack aircraft, it used its aerial gun platform, wide-tracked undercarriage and powerful BMW engines to devastating effect on the Eastern, Western and Mediterranean Fronts between 1942 and 1945.

In this new study, leading Luftwaffe historian Robert Forsyth examines all aspects of the Fw 190 and its career as a ‘tank-buster’, detailing the considerable damage it wrought upon Allied armour, troop concentrations, bridges and road junctions. First-hand accounts from Schlachtflieger pilots bring to life the operational and tactical histories of the aircraft, and are complemented by archive photos and newly commissioned artwork that vividly demonstrates its technical and ballistic assets.

The 96 page book is currently available for pre-order in paperback and Kindle editions with release set for July 28.

W.A.R. Fw 190 Project For Sale: “Comes With Continental 200-A Engine”

A project with paperwork identifying it as a War Aircraft Replicas Fw 190 has been spotted for sale. The listing states (in part):

Vintage Aircraft —in its build stage. I believe this is a Focke-Wulf FW-190 replica but that is my best guess and I know very little about this plane overall. Comes with Continental 200-A engine.

The W.A.R. Fw 190 is a half-scale homebuilt replica of the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 fighter. The project is located in Seattle, Washington and is currently available for US $12,000 although offers are also being accepted. Italeri Releases Fw 190 A-7/A8 Focused on Luftwaffe Aces

Italeri has released a new boxing of their 1/72 Fw 190 A-7/A8 model kit focusing on Luftwaffe aces.

The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 was one of the best aircraft designed during the Second World War. Produced in more than 20,000 units starting in 1941, it was, together with the Messerschmitt Bf 109, the most famous fighter of the Luftwaffe. The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 A-8 was equipped with a BMW 801 D-2 twin-row, 14-cylinder radial engine delivering 1,700 hp, allowing it to reach a maximum speed of 653 km/h. It was heavily armed with two MG 131 machine guns and four 20 mm MG 151 cannons. In the first months of 1944, the A-8 version entered production, featuring an injection system capable of increasing engine power to over 1,900 hp for short periods. The Luftwaffe’s best pilots flew the famous fighter during the Second World War.

The kit (1490) includes markings for aircraft flown by Major. Maj. Heinz “Pritzl” Bär, Obstlt. Otto Kittel, Major Josef “Pips” Priller, Leutnant Anton Rudolf Piffer and Leutnant Gerhard Vogt. Click below to check out the Buy on eBay and box contents.

MiniArt Releases New Tool Fw 190D-9 (Mimetall) Basic Model Kit

MiniArt has released their new tool Focke-Wulf 190D-9 (Mimetall) basic model kit in 1/48 scale.

The Focke-Wulf FW 190D-9 was developed as a high-performance fighter to improve high-altitude capability. Aircraft produced by Mimetall were delivered in late-war conditions and often featured simplified finishes. Machines of Jagdgeschwader 301 were among those flown during the final phase of WWII.

As previously reported, the kit (48040) includes an accurate exterior with finely reproduced panel lines and rivets, detailed cockpit with instrument panel and seat, optional open or closed canopy and marking options for two aircraft of Jagdgeschwader 301.

MiniArt has announced the upcoming release of a Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9 “Grünherz” basic model kit in 1/48 scale.

the offering (48035) represents the early production Fw 190D-9 used by Jagdgeschwader 54 “Grünherz,” featuring distinctive late-war Luftwaffe camouflage and markings. It is described as detailed, with “clean assembly” and an accurate early production configuration. Two mJG 54 marking options will be included.

Now Available: IBG’s New Fw 190D-9 “Jagdgeschwader 301” Model Kit

IBG Models has released their new Fw 190D-9 model kit (72543) in 1/72 scale.

The Focke-Wulf Fw 190D was the final mass-produced version of the company’s famed fighter, representing the culmination of a long line of design evolution aimed at improving high-altitude performance. Although often seen as a late-war development, work on fitting the Fw 190 with an inline engine began as early as 1941 in response to Allied advancements in turbocharged bomber technology. Early prototypes using radial and inline engines (Fw 190B and C) failed due to technical issues, but the introduction of the Junkers Jumo 213 engine revived the project. After extensive testing and modifications to correct stability problems caused by the new engine, the Fw 190D-9 entered production in August 1944, marking a major success. Subsequent variants featuring improved engines were developed, though most remained prototypes due to the war’s end. Between 1,500 and 1,700 Fw 190D aircraft were produced, with only a portion reaching active Luftwaffe units before Germany’s defeat.

As previously reported, the new offering is based on the new tool Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9 kit (72531 / eBay Product Link) released in 2022, but with markings representing Jagdgeschwader 301.
