Eduard Releases ProfiPACK Spitfire Mk. Vb With PE Parts, 7 Liveries

New this month from Eduard is a ProfiPACK edition Spitfire Mk.Vb model kit in 1/72 scale.

The Mk.Vb was powered by the Merlin 45 engine and distinguished by its B-type wing with two 20mm Hispano cannon and four .303 Browning machine guns. It served as an important stopgap in 1941, giving Britain a highly capable interceptor before being overtaken by later Spitfire marks.

The new Eduard release (70206) represents mid-production versions with armored glass before the windshield and asymmetrical wing bulges. It includes Eduard plastic parts, pre-painted PE parts, painting masks and Eduard decals with marking options for seven aircraft.

Eduard Releases ProfiPACK Edition Spitfire Mk.Vb (Early) Model Kit

Adding to the list of new Eduard releases for December is this ProfiPACK edition Spitfire Mk. Vb (early) model kit in 1/72 scale. As previously reported, Eduard also released a 1/48 ProfiPACK edition Mk.Vb (mid) model kit this month.

The early Mk.Vb typically featured the original “B” type wing, which had one inner cannon bay and the outer machine guns. In contrast, the mid variant usually sported the “universal” wing design, which had two inner cannon bays (though one was often left empty), allowing for a more flexible armament configuration. The outer two .303 machine guns were moved closer together in the mid variant wing compared to the early one.

The early variant kit (70205) includes Eduard plastic parts and decals, pre-painted PE parts and a painting mask. Marking options are included for six aircraft.

Eduard Releases New ProfiPACK Spitfire Mk.Vb With 7 Marking Options

The new December releases from Eduard includes this ProfiPACK Edition Spitfire Mk.Vb “mid” in 1/48 scale.

The Spitfire Mk.Vb “mid” variant is a transitional production batch of the most numerous Spitfire mark, built around 1941–42. It mounts two 20 mm Hispano cannons and four .303 in Browning machine guns in the B-wing, with options for 90-gallon drop tank or bombs, a three-blade Rotol propeller, standard rounded wingtips, early-mid carburetor intake (sometimes tropicalized), non-armored laminated glass windscreen, and cockpit refinements like adjusted rudder pedals and rear armor plate, distinguishing it from early models by refined details and from late ones by lacking clipped wings or universal cannon bays.

The kit (82157) includes Eduard plastic parts, pre-painted PE parts, painting mask and Eduard decals with marking options for seven aircraft.
