Airfix Releases New Tool 1/24 Spitfire Mk.IXc: “Extraordinary Detail”

Airfix has released their highly anticipated new tool Spitfire Mk.IXc model kit in 1/24 scale.

The kit (A17001) includes early and late intakes and breech blisters, clipped wings, two elevator types, and an intricately detailed cockpit. Five marking options are also included which allows builders “to choose between Johnnie Johnson’s mount or something completely different, such as the French Air Force Reconnaissance Spitfire.”

First Look: Revell’s New Tool 1/32 Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIB

Revell has released the first test build photos of their upcoming new tool Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIB model kit in 1/32 scale.

At the moment additional details are limited, with the kit (04968) being described only as “highly detailed” with a “a detailed cockpit and a rotating propeller.” It is slated for release in early December.

New Book Offers “The Complete Guide” to the P-38 Lightning

Author Richard A. Franks and Valiant Wings Publishing have released Airframe & Miniature No.19: The Lockheed P-38 Lightining described as “a complete guide to the ‘Fork-tailed Devil'”:

First Look: Test Frame For Airfix’s New 1/24 Spitfire Mk.IXc

Airfix has released new test frame images for their upcoming new tool Spitfire Mk.IXc in 1/24 scale.

The upcoming release (A17001) reportedly includes 433 parts with “lots of impressive detail” resulting in “a beautifully accurate large scale representation of this famous aeroplane.” Details are limited at the moment, but features include a detailed cockpit tub and three different wheel hub options and tip farings for the clipped wing variant of the Spitfire.

Copper State Models Shares New Renderings of 1/32 Bristol Scout

Copper State Models has released new renderings of their upcoming Bristol Scout model kit in 1/32 scale.

The company states that the model was developed with support and guidance of David Bremner, who constructed a flying reproduction of the type in the colors of his grandfather’s machine (1264). They plan to discuss the final version of this model with David to avoid any inaccuracies and note that the new images are not the final renders of the model.

Additional details are currently limited, although 1264 will be included as a livery in the upcoming release. If all goes well, the kit will be released this year. Click below to check out additional renderings.

Airfix Reveals Liveries For New Tool 1/48 Blackburn Buccaneer S.2

Airfix has revealed the liveries for their upcoming new tool Blackburn Buccaneer S.2 in 1/48 scale.

The kit (A12012) will reportedly include four marking options representing XN981 (No.809 Naval Air Squadron, HMS Ark Royal, August 1978), XV162 (No.801 Naval Air Squadron, HMS Hermes, circa 1969), XV340 (No.809 Naval Air Squadron, Royal Naval Air Station Lossiemouth, Scotland 1970) and XV867 (No.803 Naval Air Squadron, Royal Naval Air Station Lossiemouth, Scotland 1969).

The new offering follows the 2019 release of Airfix’s new tool Buccaneer in 1/72 scale (A06021). The kit contains plastic sprues and decals and is described as “highly detailed” with a 280mm wingspan.

First Look: Test Build of Airfix’s F-86F-40 Sabre

Airfix has released the first test build images for their upcoming F-86F-40 Sabre model kit in 1/48 scale.

The offering (A08110) is reportedly based on the new tool Canadair Sabre F.4 (A08109) released in 2021 and includes plastic sprues and marking options for two machines: F-86F-40 Sabre “The Flying Jokers” aerobatic team, No.332 Squadron, Royal Norwegian Air Force, Rygge Air Station, Norway, June 2nd 1962 (pictured above) and F-86F-40 Sabre 1st Air Wing, Japan Air Self-Defence Force, Hamamatsu, Shizouka Prefecture, Japan, December 1975. The kit also includes extended wing span and new leading edge slats.

First Look: Parts For Infinity’s Upcoming 1/32 DH Vampire DH.100

Infinity Models has released sample photos of parts for their upcoming 1/32 DH Vampire DH.100 model kit.

At the moment details are limited, although the company states that the model is currently in the manufacturing stage, and although they are waiting on a few other details, the main part is ready.

Border Model Dispatches Highly Anticipated 1/32 Avro Lancaster

After delays caused by mold problems and the pandemic, Border Model announced that their new tool Avro Lancaster B Mk.I/III has finally been dispatched.

As previously reported, the 1/32 offering (BF010) boasts a full interior with realistic surface detail, detailed cockpit and Merlin engines as well as high-precision copper metal machine gun barrels.

The kit will is offered in limited quantities, with the company stating: “after this batch of Lancaster is sent, it will not be able to be produced again for a long time. Large molds are very troublesome to repair.”

Roden Releases New NB-36H Crusader Model Kit

Roden has released a new Convair NB-36H Crusader model kit in 1/144 scale.

The Convair NB-36H Crusader was an American research aircraft built in 1955 based on the B-36H bomber to determine the possibility of installing a nuclear reactor and so remain airborne for a long time.

Details on the new offering (#348) are limited, although is is shown as offering the livery of B/N 51-5712: Special Atomic Research Flight, New Mexico, 1956. The kit follows a new tool B-36B released in 2020 and a B-36D/F/H/J released last year.
