An original 1916 Caudron G.4 project “with proved combat history” has hit the market. The listing states (in part):

World‘s first multi-engine military aircaft type to enter in service in large scale (1915). Only two other exemplars preserved but in public collections. The last prewar Caudron‘s design. Very good flying characteristics.

Three Airworthy English Electric Lightnings Offered For Sale

Three examples of the English Electric Lightning described as “airworthy” are currently available for sale.

ZU-BBD (Service Registration: XS452, pictured above) is a two-seat T. Mk5 which was reportedly built in 1965. In 1988 it was delivered to Cranfield and subsequently bought by Tony Hulls and restored. The Aircraft was fast taxied at Cranfield Airshow. It was later bought by Mike Beacheyhead in South Africa and registered as ZU-BBD. The service history is listed as follows:

Service: “452” 226 OCU, “T” 11 Sqd, “X” 111 Sqd, “X” 56 Sqd, Akrotiri Station Flight (Flamingo on PINK fin, pink-blue nose markings), used APC-detached UK Lightning squadrons, “Y” 11 Sqd (‘C’ Flt). First flight in dark green experimental camouflage. LTF, lent 5 Sqd, “T” 11 Sqd, “Z” LTF, “DZ” LTF, “BT” 11 Sqd.

First built as a T11 for RAF service in 1953 and rebuilt by the Swiss Air Force in 1967 and the airframe Zero Timed and new engine. Put into service as a T55. Previous ID: RAF 40279… MTOW: 6069kg; Total Hours: 1228 hrs; C of A Permit to fly renewal due: Feb 2020; Manufacturer: Federal Aircraft Factory – Switzerland; Aircraft Class: Fixed-Wing Landplane; EASA Category: Non-EASA; Engine: 1x Goblin 35. Current Hours – 387 ( TBO increased to 600 Hrs with Mods 1136, 1140 & 1141 in Log Books). Avionics Fitted: New 8.33 Mhz Radio to be fitted. “New Build” Verner-Powered Flitzer 21 Z Offered For Sale

A “new built” Flitzer 21 Z biplane reportedly constructed from original plans bought from Lynn Williams has been spotted for sale. The listing states (in part):

The entire lining of the aircraft and the wings are covered with poplar plywood 2mm. Ailerons are balanced at 100% and rudders at 90% as well as the handlebars. The entire geometry of the aeroplane, its dimensions and its shape correspond to 99% of the original. The steering of the ailerons and the rudder is rigid through duralumin tubes and precise. They are also easily disassembled and assembled.

The landing gear is divided into two parts – each working for itself. The wheels are reinforced and are stronger than what usually is required. The tail skid is replaced with a wheel for better manoeuvrability and control on the ground. The Verner engine is great – it has 84 horsepower. The engine is lightweight, with gearboxes, carburettors and is air-oil cooled. It has 29 hours and is equipped with an electric starter. We are still fine-tuning and make cosmetic adjustments. The aeroplane will do more test flights this spring at the Kazanluk airfield, Bulgaria.

Nanchang CJ-6A Parts Aircraft Offered For Sale

A “hurt” 1989 Nanchang (Hongdu) CJ-6A, Chinese trainer/warbird parts aircraft is available for sale. The machine, which has 2750 TT, 700 SMOH, is described as “probably too big of a project to make rebuild cost effective,” but is reportedly “awesome” for CJ-6A parts or use as a “cockpit display, set dressing, paintball prop, etc.” The listing states (in part):

The CJ-6A is a Chinese built 2 seat tandem trainer, with looks and function similar to the Russian Yak 18a. Produced since 1965 as the “A” version, which has a 285 h.p. Huosai radial engine, this airplane is a very late production model, built in 1989! Imported into the U.S. with 1,550 hours, it was converted and upgraded for U.S. use and granted an airworthiness in 2007. Annualled consecutively since, the last inspection was 4/5/2018, with the last log entry 3/18/2019.

“Pristine Condition, Airworthy” de Havilland Vampire WZ507 Offered For Sale

1952 de Havilland DH115 Vampire T Mk 11 WZ507 (C/N 15127) is currently available for sale.

According to the listing, the aircraft has been successfully operated by the Vampire Preservation Group for over a decade, maintaining it in pristine condition and participating in air displays across Europe. It is believed to be the only airworthy de Havilland Vampire T11 in the world.

WZ507 has just completed its annual maintenance inspection and is fully serviceable and in great condition. It has been regularly maintained since its return to flight in 2002 and has flown frequently. All logbooks and maintenance records are available and included in this sale.

“Vary Rare” 1949 Percival Prentice Offered For Sale

A “very rare” example of the Percival P.40 Prentice primary trainer has hit the market. The type served the Royal Air Force’s first post-WW2 military trainer and its first primary trainer with enclosed cockpit. It was also the first all-metal aircraft manufactured by Edgar Percival’s Percival Aircraft. The listing states (in part):

Total time Airframe is 1758 hours,total time engine since major overhaul is 393 hours,engine had a complete top overhaul in 1996 and had 392 hours on the engine at that time . Annual was completed April 2011, with new battery, new tires, and transponder check. Aircraft is in license experimental,and holds four people.
