IBG Announces First Variant in New Fieseler Storch Series With Detail Renderings

IBG has released a new series of renderings for their upcoming Fieseler Fi 156 Storch model kit in 1/72 scale.

The Storch was a German high‑wing liaison and observation aircraft famed for its extraordinary STOL performance, able to take off in about 150 ft and land in roughly 60 ft thanks to a large wing, full‑span leading‑edge slats, and powerful flaps that gave a very low stall speed around 31 mph. Powered by a 240 hp Argus As 10 engine, it served throughout World War II in reconnaissance, artillery spotting, casualty evacuation, and VIP transport, and became legendary for missions such as the 1943 Gran Sasso rescue of Mussolini. About 3,900 were built in Germany and under license abroad, with postwar versions like the Morane‑Saulnier MS.500 Criquet remaining in use into the 1950s and beyond.

As previously reported, IBG released teaser images in September and stated that all production variants would eventually be represented. The new renderings detail the full 156C-2 “Storch At War” as well as its 3D printed upgrade set featuring the full Argus AS10C-3 engine, upgraded covers and two propeller variants. Release of the 156C-2 is reportedly slated for the end of the month.

IBG to Release New Fieseler Storch Model: All Variants, Full Interior, Detailed Engine

IBG Models has announced the upcoming release of a new Fieseler Fi 156 Storch model kit in 1/72 scale.

The Storch was a German high‑wing liaison and observation aircraft famed for its extraordinary STOL performance, able to take off in about 150 ft and land in roughly 60 ft thanks to a large wing, full‑span leading‑edge slats, and powerful flaps that gave a very low stall speed around 31 mph. Powered by a 240 hp Argus As 10 engine, it served throughout World War II in reconnaissance, artillery spotting, casualty evacuation, and VIP transport, and became legendary for missions such as the 1943 Gran Sasso rescue of Mussolini. As of this writing details on the release are limited, although the company is teasing full interior, detailed engine and representations of all production variants. Fieseler Fi 156 Storch Detailed in Revised and Enhanced Second Edition Book

Coming soon from MMPBooks and author Dariusz Karnas is Fieseler Fi 156 Storch (Yellow Series), a second edition that reportedly includes new color profiles, enhanced content and a thoroughly revised and improved text.

The Fieseler Fi 156 Storch (stork) was a German liaison aircraft built before and during World War II, and even post war in France. It remains famous to this day for its excellent STOL performance and remarkable wartime exploits. This book describes in detail the technical aspects of the aircraft, its design and development. All wartime versions are described in detail.

It contains: scale plans in 1/72 nd scale; photos and drawings from Technical Manuals; superb color illustrations of camouflage and markings; rare b+w archive photographs; color photos of preserved aircraft.

The 256 page book is currently available for pre-order with release set for August 10.

A 3/4 scale Fieseler Storch replica has hit the market. The listing states (in part):

…aircraft is complete, has a 1600 cc 4 cylinder Volkswagen engine with 2 barrel carburetor, engine has convention bell housing with starter and build in generator the conversion also includes a belt drive system for the prop, has hydraulic brakes, wing tanks, I am not the builder of the aircraft but have all building logs. The aircraft was quickly disassembled for transport due to a flood the aircraft did not get wet but the elevator and ruder cables are cut and the aileron cables, easy fix! Can help disassemble and load on trailer.
