Eduard Offering Limited Edition P-40K “Royal Class” Dual Combo Kit With Tons of Extras

Eduard is set to release a new Royal Class edition P-40K Warhawk (short tail) model kit in 1/48 scale.

The offering (R0024) will include Eduard plastic parts with sprues for two complete kits, pre-painted PE parts, painting masks, resin parts (exhausts; antenna; undercarriage wheels – two types, seats with harness) wheel wells plugs (Omask), Mouse pad – Royal PIN UP and Eduard decals with marking options for eight aircraft in USAAF, RAF and SAAF service.

Eduard Releases Limited Edition, Dual Combo P-40E / P-40N Model Kit

Another new release from Eduard this month is a limited edition dual combo Kittyhawk Mk.Ia (P-40E) / Kittyhawk Mk.IV (P-40N) in 1/48 scale.

The kit (11187) includes Eduard plastic parts and decals, pre-painted PE parts, a painting mask and marking options for 10 aircraft serving in the RAF, RAAF, RNZAF and SAAF.

For Sale: “Magnificent P-40N Restoration with Dual Controls”

Curtiss P-40N Kittyhawk C-FVWC (S/N 42-104827) has hit the market.

The airframe reportedly has 172.3 hrs since restoration by Pioneer Aero Restorations (2009), while the Allison V-1710-81A engine has 12.2 hrs SMOH by Vintage V-12s (2019). The Curtiss Electric prop has 12.2 hrs. SMOH by Westpac Propellers (2019).

The aircraft includes an avionics package, a rear seat with dual controls, an interior restored to stock military configuration and Desert Air Force markings representing the P-40 flown by Canadian Ace “Stocky” Edwards.

“Restored, Licensed, Flying” 1943 Curtiss P-40N-1 Offered For Sale

1943 Curtiss P-40N-1, S/N 42-104687 (VH-ZOC), has hit the market. The listing states (in part):

VH-ZOC Curtiss P-40N Kittyhawk c/n 28449. Built to USAAF order as 42-104687 but diverted to the RNZAF as Kittyhawk Mk IV NZ3215. Sold for scrap post-War and remained at Asplin’s Supplies, Rukuhia New Zealand, 1952-60. Rescued and the hulk was eventually purchased by Allan Arthur and exported to Australia. Restoration work at Wangaratta and Deniliquin. Restoration completed at Pioneer Aero, Ardmore, New Zealand. Restoration completed 2006. Shipped to Australia in August of 2006 and registered VH-ZOC. The P-40N is painted in RAF 112 (Shark) Squadron green livery (with Code GA-Q). RAF 112 Sqn fought against Rommel in the Middle East during WWII.

According to the listing, the airframe has 265 hrs since restoration by Pioneer Aero, while the Allison V-1710-115 engine has 265 hrs SMOH by Cascade Engines. Bushby Midget Mustang-Based P-40 Project Offered For Sale

A 1/2 scale P-40 based on Bushby Midget Mustang is currently available for sale. The listing states (in part):

This plane does an honest 253 mph at 10,000 ft altitude on a measured course, is fully aerobatic (+/- 9 Gs) has retractable gear, flaps and cabin heat. It has basic flight instruments, no radio and no navigation. It takes off in 400 ft, climbs at 1800ft/min cruises at 180 mph and will fly stably at less than 60 mph. Landing speed is ~80 mph. The wing span is 19 ft 6 inches, length is 16 ft 4 inches, height is 4 ft 6 inches, empty weight is 642 lbs and gross weight is 950 lbs. It has a 23 gallon fuel tank.

P-40E S/N AK75315134 (N4420K) “Desert Shark,” described as a “total restoration with attention to authentic details” is available for sale.

The listing states that the airframe has only 200 hours since an Oshkosh award winning restoration by Fagen Fighters, while the Allison V-1710-39 engine has 200 hours since overhaul by ACE Allisons. It is also touted as offering a fresh July annual inspection, May 2018 transponder certification, recent tires, new production radiators by Repli-core and new fuel cells restoration.

A P-40N “combat veteran” project has hit the market.

The offering is reportedly 75% complete with “many new and hard to get components.” According to the listing, the inventory includes:

Collings Foundation to Debut Newly Acquired P-40 With Wings of Freedom Tour

The Collings Foundation in Stow, Massachusetts has announced that their new TP-40N Warhawk will be joining the National Wings of Freedom Tour beginning tomorrow.

The aircraft (N293FR S/N 42-9749) began life as a P-40K which was delivered to the USAAF in 1942. It served with the 11th Air Force, Alaskan Air Defense Command and was damaged near Port Hyden in 1943, being struck off charge shortly thereafter. The machine was recovered in 1975 and eventually underwent restoration to airworthy status, returning to the air in 1986.

In 1990 it became part of the Evergreen Heritage Collection in Arizona and later the Evergreen Aviation Museum in McMinnville, Oregon (where it is seen in the photo above). It was acquired by the Collings Foundation in 2017 and converted to a full dual-control TP-40N.

In addition to joining the Wings of Freedom Tour, the new TP-40N will reportedly be part of Bomber Camp 2019 as well. Click below for photos and additional info.
