Airscale Releases New “State of the Art” Hawker Typhoon Mk.Ib Hybrid Kit

Airscale has released their new 3D printed Hawker Typhoon Mk.Ib “car door” in 1/32 scale.

Combining state of the art injection moulding with high end 3D parts, this hybrid kit sets the tone for future modellers. Fuselage, wings, tailplanes and clear parts are all injection moulded, while everything else bristles with finely realised 3D detail.

The model is released in partnership with Typhoon Legacy in Canada, and a percentage of sales will go toward their restoration of JP843 to flying condition. Click below for product link and additional images.

Eduard Release ProfiPACK Spitfire F Mk. IX With New Liveries

Adding to the list of new Eduard releases for March is this ProfiPACK Edition Spitfire F Mk. IX model kit in 1/48 scale.

The F Mk. IX was a mid‑war Spitfire variant created as a stopgap by fitting the new two‑stage supercharged Merlin 61 series engine to essentially a modified Mk Vc airframe to counter the Focke‑Wulf Fw 190 in 1942. It retained the classic Spitfire agility but offered much improved speed, climb, and high‑altitude performance. It was typically armed with two 20 mm cannon and four .303 in machine guns in the universal “C” wing. Intended as a temporary solution until more advanced marks arrived, it proved so successful that thousands were built, serving in roles from pure interceptor to fighter‑bomber and remaining a mainstay of RAF fighter units through the later years of the Second World War.

The offering (8282) is reportedly a re-release with new marking options including Canadian and American liveries. It includes Eduard plastic parts, pre-painted PE parts, painting masks and Eduard decals with five marking options.

Eduard Releases New Fw 190F-8 Model Kit With 7 Liveries

New this month from Eduard is a ProfiPACK Edition Fw 190F-8 model kit in 1/48 scale.

The Fw 190F-8 was a late-war German ground-attack variant of the renowned Fw 190 fighter, derived from the A-8 airframe with reinforcements to carry up to 1,000 kg bombs or other ordnance. Powered by a BMW 801 radial engine with low-altitude performance enhancements via a modified compressor, it featured armament of two 20 mm MG 151/20 wing-root cannons and two 13 mm MG 131 cowl machine guns. Entering service in 1944, over 6,000 were built, though many served as fighter-interceptors due to the decline of dedicated dive bombers like the Ju 87.

The new kit (82139) includes Eduard plastic parts, pre-painted PE parts, painting masks and Eduard decals with marking options for seven aircraft.

New Renders: MiniArt’s Upcoming Fw 190D-9 (Mimetall) Advanced Kit

MiniArt has released a new series of renderings for their upcoming new tool Fw 190D-9 (Mimetall) Advanced Kit in 1/48 scale.

The offering (48048) is described as highly detailed with accurate Mimetall production configuration, PE parts, detailed cockpit and surface features and decals with multiple marking options.

As previously reported, MiniArt announced this advanced kit around the same time as their basic kit (48040). As of this writing no release date has been announced for either kit. Click below to check out more of the new renderings of the advanced version.

Kotare Developing 1/32 Defiant Mk.I With Exclusive Perks For Pre-Orders

Kotare has announced the development of a Boulton Paul Defiant Mk.I in 1/32 scale. The kit (K32510) will be an exclusive, limited edition release with only 5,000 being produced. Each will by hand numbered by Kotare Models owner Mark Robson.

Those who pre-order will become a member of “Project Defiant” — an exclusive group with access to a private Facebook page, online forum, and email network. Members will also have the chance to meet Kotare staff in person at major model shows across the UK, Australia, the USA, and New Zealand to share ideas and connect with others. Regular updates will cover the project’s design progress, with opportunities to engage directly with kit designer Nick Moore and the team. Project Defiant members can contribute to major design decisions, share aircraft knowledge, and help decide on color schemes. Pre-orders also include a bonus: a set of 3D‑printed resin exhausts and a print of Darryl Legg’s beautiful box art.

Be in the draw to build a second test shot! From the first 500 people who make an order, we will randomly draw 20 names. Those modellers will be offered the chance to build and critique a second test shot of the kitset, to augment the process we at Kotare do.

The company expects to begin pre-order shipping by March 2028. The retail price is US $125 plus shipping and applicable taxes and/or tariffs in your country.

ICM Releases New Luftwaffe Pilot School Kit With Detailed Hs 123A Biplane

ICM has released a new Luftwaffe Pilot School model kit in 1/32 scale.

The Henschel Hs 123A served as a dive bomber and close‑support aircraft in addition to training duties. It featured all‑metal sesquiplane construction and was powered by a BMW 132 radial engine. The aircraft was armed with two 7.92 mm machine guns and around 450 kg of bombs, typically a 250 kg centerline bomb and smaller wing bombs. Entering service in the mid‑1930s, it was rugged, highly maneuverable, and able to operate from rough front‑line airfields, which made it effective in the Spanish Civil War and early Second World War campaigns despite being technically obsolete. With a top speed of about 340 km/h and excellent dive‑bombing characteristics, the Hs 123A earned a reputation for toughness and reliable close air support, remaining in service longer than originally intended until withdrawn mainly due to spare‑parts shortages.

The new release (32017) consists of three Luftwaffe cadets and an Hs 123A training biplane. It includes detailed uniform elements, accurate geometry and proportions, a detailed cockpit and fuselage and step-by-step instructions.

DMBK Making Rapid Progress on New Supermarine Scimitar F.1 Kit

DBMK Models states that it is making “rapid progress” on their new Supermarine Scimitar F.1 in 1/48 scale.

The Scimitar F.1 was a British single-seat, twin‑engine, carrier-based multi‑role strike fighter developed for the Royal Navy’s Fleet Air Arm in the 1950s and representing the final combat aircraft produced by Supermarine. Entering service in 1958, it was at the time the Fleet Air Arm’s largest, heaviest and most powerful aircraft, powered by two Rolls‑Royce Avon turbojets that gave it high subsonic speed and strong low‑level performance. Designed for both interception and strike, it carried four 30 mm ADEN cannon and a wide range of stores including rockets, bombs, AGM‑12 Bullpup air‑to‑ground missiles and AIM‑9 Sidewinder air‑to‑air missiles. Although advanced and potent, the Scimitar’s demanding handling and high accident rate, combined with the arrival of more capable types such as the Blackburn Buccaneer and de Havilland Sea Vixen, led to its relatively short frontline career through the early to mid‑1960s.

The upcoming kit (48001) will reportedly include high pressure IM plastic parts, PE, and 3DP parts such as one piece intake tunnels and exhausts. A good range of markings will also be included in the box as well as weapons, including some that have never been featured before in kits. A 1/72 version of the kit is also being planned. As of this writing a final release date has not yet been announced.

MiniArt Announces New Dorsal Fin P-47M Model Kit

MiniArt has announced a new addition to their line of 1/48 P-47 kits in the form of the P-47M (with dorsal fin).

The dorsal fin-equipped P-47M variant was a specialized late-WW2 modification of the P-47D bubbletop fighter, featuring a triangular fillet forward of the vertical stabilizer added to enhance directional stability after the redesigned rear fuselage caused yaw issues, as seen on later P-47D-40 models and retrofitted to some P-47Ms. Only about 130 P-47Ms were built, equipped with a high-output Pratt & Whitney R-2800-57(C) engine (2,800 hp with water injection) and improved turbo-supercharger for speeds up to 470-500 mph at altitude, optimized for intercepting V-1 buzz bombs and Me 262 jets while armed with eight .50-caliber machine guns.

First Look: Sword Models’ New Tool Short SB.6 Seamew

Sword Models has announced that their new tool Short SB.6 Seamew model kit is almost ready.

The Short SB.6 Seamew was a British lightweight carrier-based anti-submarine aircraft developed by Shorts in the early 1950s to replace the FAA’s Avenger. It first flew on 23 August 1953 but suffered handling problems and shifting defense priorities, which led to limited production and ultimately cancellation after only a small number of airframes were built.

The upcoming 1/72 release (SW72157) is described as “quite large” and appears to include liveries for XE169 of HMS Warrior and XA123 of HMS Bulwark. The company states that they are completing the paperwork and starting to pack with release slated for sometime this month.
