Kotare to Launch Bf 109E-4 Pre-Orders With Perks for Select Customers

Kotare has shared an update on the development of their Bf 109E-4 model kit in 1/32 scale.

After receiving input from various Bf 109 experts, the team is now selecting marking options with the assistance of Lynn Ritger.

OPTION 1 AND BOX TOP ART: A machine that can be accurately depicted without that symbol that causes so much controversy! OPTION 2: Many modellers dislike spraying Luftwaffe mottle schemes. This aircraft will have a nice clean splinter camouflage pattern with the high demarcation RLM 65. OPTION 3: In contrast, many modellers LOVE spraying mottle, so this option will have an aesthetic scheme, and an interesting backstory. OPTION 4: Continuing the Kotare policy of community engagement, option 4 will be chosen by pre-order customers… For Option 4, members of the Kotare First 500 will be able to make suggestions, create a shortlist and then vote in a poll to choose the final markings option. We will supply what YOU want!

Further details have yet to be announced, although pre-ordering is expected to open “soon.” Click below to check out additional renderings.

Eduard Releases Limited Edition, Dual Combo Bf 109K-4 Model Kit

Another new release this month from Eduard is a limited edition, dual combo “Kurfürst” Bf 109K-4 model kit in 1/72 scale.

The Bf 109K-4, known as the “Kurfürst”, was the final production variant of the iconic German World War II fighter, entering service in late 1944 as the Luftwaffe’s most refined Bf 109 model. Powered by a Daimler-Benz DB 605D engine producing up to 2,000 horsepower with MW 50 injection, it achieved top speeds of around 690-710 km/h (429-440 mph) at high altitudes like 7,400-7,500 meters, offering superior climb rates, acceleration, and agility over earlier 109s. Armament typically included one 30 mm MK 108 cannon with 65 rounds and two 13 mm MG 131 machine guns with 300 rounds each, all nose-mounted for precise firing, while its design prioritized ease of maintenance with quick-access panels. Though optimized for high-altitude interception and bomber defense, its aging airframe limited top-speed handling compared to some Allied foes.

Eduard’s new release (2155) includes Eduard plastic parts, pre-painted PE parts, painting masks, and Eduard decals for nine aircraft.

Revell to Release Me 262 A-1a / U4 Kit in 1/32 Scale

Revell will soon release a Messerschmitt Me 262 A-1a / U4 model kit in 1/32 scale.

The product (037499090) is based on what the company describes as the “proven” Me 262 model, but it has been updated with newly developed parts to represent the U4’s nose and 50 mm cannon. Additional features will include a finely crafted cockpit, detailed Jumo engines and “an authentic chassis.” As a Level 5 kit it includes 220 individual parts.

The kit is currently slated for release in April.

Eduard Releases New ProfiPACK Bf 109 G-6 With 5 Liveries

New this month from Eduard is a ProfiPACK Edition Bf 109 G-6 model kit in 1/48 scale.

The release (82167) represents examples with standard canopy and rudder. It includes Eduard plastic parts and decals, pre-painted PE parts, a painting mask and marking options for five aircraft.

Bf 109 Origins and Development Detailed in New Book

In the upcoming book Messerschmitt Bf 109 – Origins and Evolution author Lynn Ritger will cover the history of the most produced fighter aircraft in history, and arguably the single most important German aircraft of the Second World War.

In Messerschmitt Bf 109 – Origins and Evolution, historian Lynn Ritger examines in detail the development of the Bf 109 family across its entire lifespan, from the first flight of the Bf 109 V1 to the last operational flight of a Spanish Hispano Ha 1112 M in 1965. Drawing upon original documentation from archival sources, including RLM meeting minutes and planning documents, intelligence reports, production records, factory handbooks, and front-l ine unit reports, Ritger traces the technical history of the Bf 109, illustrating prototype and service variant development, production batch differences, internal and external equipment and ordnance fitment, factory specific equipment and finish details, postwar variants developed in Czechoslovakia and Spain, and unrealised design proposals

The 400 page, hardcover book is currently available for pre-order and is slated for release on January 7.

Eduard Releases New Tool Bf 109 G-10 Model Kit

Eduard has released their new tool ProfiPACK edition model kit of the Bf 109 G-10 in 1/48 scale.

The kit (82119) reportedly focuses on “aircraft produced by the Messerschmitt factory in Regensburg” and is said to include plastic parts, a painting mask, pre-painted PE parts and marking options representing W.Nr. 130282, flown by Hptm. Franz Wienhusen; W. Nr. 130297, flown by Fw. Horst Petzschler and W. Nr. 130342 of 5./ NJG 11. Liveries for 1./ KG(J) 6 and 13./ JG 27 machines are also included.

Eduard has announced the upcoming release of a new tool ProfiPACK edition model kit of the Bf 109 G-10 in 1/48 scale.

The kit (82119) will focus on “aircraft produced by the Messerschmitt factory in Regensburg” and will reportedly include five decal options which can be seen below, along with newly released images of the kit’s contents.

The Bf 109 G-10 is currently slated for release in August.

Hangar10 Collection Adds Newly Restored, Airworthy Bf 109 G-14

The Hangar 10 Collection has reportedly added a new Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-14 to its collection on the Pomeranian island of Usedom.

In 2017, the aircraft (S/N 462707) was fully restored to airworthy condition by Rare Bird Aviation near Vienna, Austria. It arrived at Hangar10 on February 5th and has since joined the collection’s G-6 (S/N 440738) and G-12 (S/N 440738), both of which are currently available for sale.

Hangar10 states that the new G-14 “shines” with its original DB 605 engine and reports that they are looking forward to admiring all three machines in a “messerschmitt formation in the sky above the island of usedom.”

Airfix to Release Two-Seat Messerschmitt Me 262B-1a/Avia CS-92a Model Kit

Airfix will reportedly follow up last year’s new tool Messerschmitt Me262 A-1a Schwalbe with a 1/72 scale example of the two-seat version.

The upcoming release will reportedly consist of the Me 262B-1a Luftwaffe night fighter as well as the Avia CS-92a, a two seat trainer flown by the Czech Air Force. Additional details appear to be scarce, although a number of CAD images are available (click below to see more).

The kit (A04062) is currently expected to be released in October.
