Arma Hobby Announces Upcoming New Tool Hawker Hurricane Mk IIc Model Kit

Arma Hobby has announced the upcoming release of a new tool Hawker Hurricane Mk IIc model kit in 1/72 scale.

The offering will reportedly be available in three versions, including an Expert Set (70035) Model Kit (70036) and a Trop Model Kit (70037).

Hawker Hurricane F-AZXR Offered For Sale

Hawker Hurricane Mk IIa F-AZXR (S/N P3351) has hit the market.

The machine was reportedly built at the Hawker factory at Brooklands in early 1940 and assigned to No 73 Squadron. It was later modified to a Mk II configuration and transferred to OTU 55 before moving on to Russia under Lend-Lease.

The listing contains scant details, noting that the machine is new to market and located in France. Pricing is available upon request.

“Original Hawker Hurricane Fabric Section With Provenance” For Sale

A 77 x 40″ fabric section touted as original Hawker Hurricane covering material has been spotted for sale. The listing states (in part):

RAF museum and veteran documents. 77” x 40” starboard section. If you collect you know large sections of fabric extremely rare. Very fragile with paint loss. Front lightly treated to prevent additional paint loss. Should be shipped flat. Clear fabric reinforcement tape applied on weak seams on rear. Can be removed if necessary. Copies of all documentation pictured and more will be provided.

1942 Hawker Hurricane Mk IIB 5481 Offered For Sale

Hawker Hurricane XII/IIB S/N 5481 (VH-JFW) has hit the market. The listing states (in part):

An Original CC&F Hurricane Completely Restored And Flying For The Past 27 Years. This Hurricane Recently Underwent A Major IRAN Including All New Wood, Fabric, Paint, Overhauled Propeller And Radiators.

The airframe reportedly has 209.9 hrs since restoration and 22.2 hrs since major IRAN, including all new wood, fabric, paint, overhauled propeller and radiators. The Rolls Royce Merlin 500/45 engine reportedly has 209.9 SMOH by Vintage V-12s and 22.2 Hrs STOH.

The aircraft is shown above in 2006 while wearing the colors of Mk I P2970 “Little Willie.” In 2014, the machine was restored by Vintage Fighter Restorations of Australia and now represents V6748, flown by John Dallas Crossman of 32 and 46 Squadrons.

World’s Only Dual Control, Two Seat Hawker Hurricane Offered For Sale

1944 Hawker Hurricane IIB G-HHII (S/N R20023), touted as “the world’s only dual control two seat Hawker Hurricane” has hit the market.

The aircraft was manufactured by the Canadian Car & Foundry Company in 1942 and served with the RCAF until 1944. It then passed through a succession of owners, including Tony Ditheridge of Hawker Restorations, who restored it to a fighter-bomber configuration in the markings of BE505 of 174 (Mauritius) Squadron. The machine was acquired by the Hangar 11 Collection in 2007 and performed its first post-restoration flight in 2009. The aircraft is described as a “documented Battle of Britain veteran” operated by 501 Sqn in September 1940. It is equipped with Rolls Royce Merlin III engine with 11.45 Hrs SMOH by Maurice Hammond of Eye Tech Engineering. The prop is a Hamilton Standard 23E50-495 with 11.45 Hrs SPOH.

Arma Hobby has released their new tool Hawker Hurricane Mk I “expert set” model kit in 1/72 scale.

The kit (70019) reportedly includes plastic / photoetched parts, canopy / wheel masks and Techmod decals with four markings options representing P3059 and V7234 of 501 Squadron, R4175 of 303 Polish/RAF Squadron and 284 of 3 Squadron SAAF.

Arma Hobby Releases Test Build Images of New Tool Hawker Hurricane Kit

Arma Hobby has released the first test build images for their upcoming Hawker Hurricane Mk I model kit in 1/72 scale.

The model is said to boast “delicate panel lines” with “imitation of canvas on the fuselage and control surfaces.” Its surface is described as “rich with details like subtle round latches (dzuses) and raised rivets” while the cockpit offers a level of detail “proper for 1/48 scale.”

As previously noted, the kit will reportedly feature open or closed canopy display, an optional tropical version, two types of propeller blades, three types of spinners and photo etched details. The model will also be released in junior and expert editions, with the latter offering cockpit and wheel masks and “significant” photo-etched plates. World’s Only Flying Hawker Hurricane Mk IV Returns to the Air in Belgium [Video]

On November 4, Hawker Hurricane KZ321 (OO-HUR), which is believed to be the only airworthy Mk IV in existence, completed two successful flights from Brasschaat airfield near Antwerp, Belgium.

As previously reported, the machine was built by Hawker Aircraft Ltd. sometime after 1942 and delivered to No. 6 Squadron RAF in 1943, serving in Greece, Italy and Yugoslavia before the end of WW2. It was abandoned in Israel in 1947 and was recovered decades later from a Jaffa scrapyard by Warbirds of GB, Ltd., who returned it to the UK in 1983.

In 1991, the Hurricane was acquired by The Fighter Collection of the Imperial War Museum. Restoration by Hawker Restorations, Ltd. commenced in 2001 and the aircraft was returned to “zero hour condition” using original and refurbished parts. It performed its first post-restoration flight in 2003 and was operated by The Fighter Collection until acquisition by Vintage Wings of Canada in 2006. The machine was recently sold to a Belgian owner and arrived at the FAST Aero shop in Brasschaat in May, where it was prepared for its return to flight.
