The airframe reportedly has 668 hrs since complete restoration by Aero Trader of Chino, CA (Dec. 1998) / 5156 Hrs SMOH. The two Wright R-2600-29A engines each have 668 SMOH by JRS. North American F-86F N86FR (S/N 31201) has been re-listed for sale with a newly reduced price.
The aircraft was manufactured in 1952 and delivered to FA Argentina as C-109 in 1960. It was recovered from Argentina and assembled in Coleman, TX in 1989, receiving its FAA airworthiness certificate the following year. It is now registered as N86FR and flown as USAF/SkyBlazers 31201 (FU-201).
The airframe reportedly has 4417.4 Hrs TTSNEW, while the GE J-47-GE-27 engine (5970 # Thrust) has 402 Hours SMOH. The machine includes an avionics package as well as two 120 gallon wing aux tanks, smoke system, strobe lights, vertical card compass, recent tires, excellent canopy glass and ELT. In March 2020, the aviation community lost one of its most ardent advocates, aviation historian, author and publisher, Giacinta Bradley Koontz. Known by her friends and colleagues simply as, “Gia”, this self-described “Aviation Anthropologist” received her B.A. in Anthropology from San Diego State University. In 1994 Gia became interested in the life of America’s first licensed pilot, Harriet Quimby, later becoming her biographer with the publication of Gia’s first book, “The Harriet Quimby Scrapbook, The Life of America’s First Birdwoman.
