A 1,900 hp Curtiss Wright R2600 Cyclone radial engine is available for sale. The engine is said to have been “removed from a B-25 Mitchell Bomber after WWII and stored ever since.” The listing states (in part):

It includes an excellent engine mount, Engine firewall with fire detector loop, Nose gear case, all cylinders. Most accessories are removed from accessory section. This engine will need a major inspection and overhaul before it can run again. No log books or records. Sold as parts with no warranty real or implied. Great value here: Cylinders all present, Good cylinder Assemblies can cost well over $1000.00 per cylinder. This engine would be a great parts source for a currently flying warbird or restoration project. Nice unbent Engine mount is very valuable as well.

I was told when I purchased this engine years ago that it had been removed from a P-40F Fighter in US Army Air Corps service for Scheduled Overhaul. I do not have any logbooks or other documentation. This Engine will need to be overhauled before being put back into service in an aircraft. No known or visible damage, no corrosion to speak of. Please look at pictures carefully. This engine is a wonderfully preserved time capsule. Complete as removed. This is not a hollow display engine.

Three C-47 / DC-3 Aircraft Offered For Sale

Three C-47/DC-3 aircraft have hit the market.

The collection reportedly consists of three airframes (C-47-DL S/N 9053 – N47FJ, C-47B-5-DK S/N 14511 – N51938 and DC-3-455 S/N 6325 – N486C) as well as six PW R1830 engines.

According to the descriptions, N47FJ was constructed in 1943 and served with the US Army Air Corps in Algeria as well as with the 9th Air Force in England, where it flew sorties in support of the D-Day landings. It last flew in 1990 and has a TTSN of 22,322.75.

N51938 was built in 1944 and originally delivered to the US Navy, serving as an executive transport. It last flew in 1982 and has a TTSN of 21,259.

N486C was built for American Airlines in 1942, but ended up serving with Air Transport Command during WW2. It was later acquired by Eastern Airlines. It last flew in 1990 and has a TTSN of 48,962.

A reduced scale P-51 has hit the market. The listing states (in part):

The plane is made from construction of metal and plywood and canvas. Engines equipped with a Rotax 582 (65PS) 2 tact, control system, desktop instruments, armchair, brakes. Painted in accordance with the original designations of U.S.-Army of the period. The plane has no documentation release for flights. Caution !!! The auction applies to the replica without a Rotax 582 engine. The engine for an additional fee of GBP 3000.

“Nearly 100% Complete” TF-104G Starfighter Project Offered For Sale

A Lockheed TF-104G Starfighter project has hit the market.

The aircraft (S/N D-5810) is described as a two seat training model manufactured in 1963 which spent its entire career in service with the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) until retirement in 1984. The listing states (in part):

The project includes what is believed to be a “0” time General Electric J-79-11F (no logs) and afterburner (in container). The engine was removed from the storage container and run up on a test stand to approximately 80% power in 2016. The project includes an extensive spare parts inventory which includes a brand-new set of wings. The aircraft is nearly 100% complete and in stock military condition with the exception of the clocks and stop watches.

The machine has reportedly received gradual restoration over the last few years and includes “a very extensive technical library,” ground support equipment, and one pair of wingtip fuel tanks / underwing pylons.
