A 1944 de Havilland Mosquito airframe project has hit the market. The listing states:

This project consists of the wood of an original de Havilland Mosquito fuselage and wing. The fuselage is structurally complete but all the castings and fittings have been removed. The wing is approximately 3/4 complete, having been cut along mid-way on the right wing. The wood is non-airworthy and is being sold as memorabilia.

For Sale: “Time Capsule” 1943 A6M5 Model 52 Zero

A Mitsubishi A6M5 Model 52 Zero, described as “a time capsule” has hit the market.

The aircraft was “built presumably at the Nakajima No. 2 Koizumi plant in Gunma Prefecture” and bears construction number 1303. It was reportedly assigned to Naval Air Group (NAG) 261 in the 61st Air Flotilla of the First Air Fleet. It received the tail code 61-121 and was eventually captured by the Americans at Aslito airfield on Saipan. It went to Technical Air Intelligence Center (TAIC) at NAS Anacostia for evaluation, where it became “T.A.I.C. 11.” In late 1945 it became part of the Victory Squadron’s “Navy’s Flying Might” tour in support of the last bond drive, but suffered a nose up accident shortly afterward. An “extremely rare” 1941 B-17E Flying Fortress, described as “one of the few Seattle built Boeing B-17’s surviving to date” has been listed for sale. The listing states (in part):

It is estimated that the structure is approximately 80% restored. The front fuselage including the nose and cockpit still need to be rebuilt. Restoration work by Vintage Airframes. This B-17E was flown to Washington State in 1998 for restoration. The workmanship to date is second to none. If completed to the same standards, it will be the finest B-17 restoration in the world. The project is substantially complete with the correct engines and propellers.

This aircraft has some desirable modifications, including: Header tank and 2 wing tanks for extended flight times; Dual heel brakes (quite rare) so the pilot can easily fly from either side (or use for tailwheel training); Scott tailwheel; Stits PolyFiber fabric; New slick mags in 2009; New sealed struts in 2009 as well!… The paperwork for this airplane includes logbooks from 1973 to the present for the airframe, from 1980 to the present on the engine. And lots of supporting paperwork, including 337s, weight and balance, AD compliance sheets and the owners manual! And the FAA bill of sale, and the FAA airworthiness certificate, and even the keys!
