Cavanaugh Flight Museum Shares Progress Report on CASA 2.111E Restoration

Cavanaugh Flight Museum has provided an update on their 1950 CASA 2.111E one year after the aircraft was transported to Ezell Aviation of Breckenridge, Texas for restoration.

For those that may not know, the Construcciones Aeronáuticas SA CASA 2.111E is a Spanish license built German Heinkel HE-111. More than 200 2.111s were built. The museum’s CASA served in the Spanish Air Force and was featured in the 1969 movie ‘Battle of Britain’ and the 1970 movie ‘Patton.’ The museum acquired this CASA in 1995.

Work done so far is described as “impressive” with the aircraft being completely disassembled and the fuselage separated into three sections for inspection, repair and priming. All cockpit components have been removed for inspection, repair or rebuilding. A new instrument panel is in the process of being crafted which will house gauges for the Packard built Merlin engines that will replace the machine’s previous Roll-Royce 500-45 engines.

An 18′ tall jig has been made to mount the wings so they can be stripped and inspected. A smaller jig was also made for the stabilizers. As of this writing the right stabilizer has been completed and the left one is underway. In addition, the center section has also been stripped and repaired. New wing spars have also been fabricated. Work on the main landing gear struts and tail gear have been completed.

Currently the aircraft is expected to return to flight around 2029-30. Click below to check out the complete update along with photos of the progress.

Border Model Shares New Sprue Photos For 1/35 111H-6

Border Model has released a new set of images detailing the parts for their new tool He 111H-6 model kit in 1/35 scale.

As previously reported, the upcoming release (BF-018) will include PE and transparent parts, full cockpit / engine interior, optional torpedoes / bombs and four marking options. The entire fuselage is designed with stressed skin and added rivets to replicate surface detail.

The company states that the model has entered the final production stage and shipping will begin as soon as possible. Click below to check out a selection of the newly released images.

Border Model to Release Stunning He 111 in 1/35 Scale

Border Model is preparing to release what appears to be a truly spectacular new tool He 111H-6 model kit in 1/35 scale.

The upcoming release (BF-018) will reportedly include PE and transparent parts, full cockpit / engine interior, optional torpedoes / bombs and four marking options. The entire fuselage is designed with stressed skin and added rivets to replicate surface detail.

New Views of Aeroplane Heaven’s Heinkel He 111 as Release Draws Near

In a recent update, flight simulation developer Aeroplane Heaven states that their Heinkel He 111 P2 is nearing release.

As previously reported, the aircraft is being developed for FSX/SE, P3DV3+ and P3DV4+ and is said to offer a high fidelity model with “an enormous amount of authentic detail.” Additional features reportedly include a fully animated complex control systems for rudder, aileron and elevator, “secret” modern navigation suite fitted to the cockpit for IFR navigation, highly realistic, animated pilot, bomb-aimer and mid/upper gunner, detailed Daimler Benz V12 engine under removable nacelle panels and authentic stereo sound pack with the signature “out of sync” engine throb at full throttle. First Look: New PBR Technology Gives Aeroplane Heaven’s Upcoming He 111 “War Weary” Appearance

Flight simulation developer Aeroplane Heaven has released new screenshots of their upcoming Heinkel He 111 P2 in P3DV4.4 “with full PBR materials.”

As previously reported, the aircraft is being developed for FSX/SE, P3DV3+ and P3DV4+ and is said to offer a high fidelity model with “an enormous amount of authentic detail.” Additioanl features reportedly include a fully animated complex control systems for rudder, aileron and elevator, “secret” modern navigation suite fitted to the cockpit for IFR navigation, highly realistic, animated pilot, bomb-aimer and mid/upper gunner, detailed Daimler Benz V12 engine under removable nacelle panels and authentic stereo sound pack with the signature “out of sync” engine throb at full throttle.

Six authentic marking options will be included as well, each reportedly created using P3D v4.4’s new “PBR Workflow” techniques to provide “a new level of realism to your flight simulation experience.” The newly released images capture the results, which include metal and corrosion effects, paint chips and staining. The developer states “All Heinkels will be released for 4.4 with PBR incorporated.”

Aeroplane Heaven Offers Look at Livery Options for Upcoming Heinkel HE 111 P-2

Aeroplane Heaven has posted renderings of liveries for its upcoming Heinkel HE 111 P-2.

Six authentic options will reportedly be available, each being created using new-technology “PBR Workflow” techniques to provide “a new level of realism to your flight simulation experience.” In addition, a A “pro”-quality paint-kit will also be provided to create your own marking options.

The aircraft is being developed for FSX/SE, P3DV3+ and P3DV4+ and is said to offer a high fidelity model with “an enormous amount of authentic detail.” Additioanl features reportedly include a fully animated complex control systems for rudder, aileron and elevator, “secret” modern navigation suite fitted to the cockpit for IFR navigation, highly realistic, animated pilot, bomb-aimer and mid/upper gunner, detailed Daimler Benz V12 engine under removable nacelle panels and authentic stereo sound pack with the signature “out of sync” engine throb at full throttle.

Aeroplane Heaven has released the first in-sim screenshots of their upcoming Heinkel HE 111 P-2.

As previously reported, the aircraft is being developed for FSX/SE, P3DV3+ and P3DV4+ and will be the team’s second version of the WW2 German medium bomber, having previously included an example of the type in a Battle of Britain package created for CFS3.

Aeroplane Heaven Announces Development of Heinkel He 111 for FSX, P3D

Flight simulation developer Aeroplane Heaven has announced the development of a Heinkel He 111 P-2 for FSX/SE, P3DV3+ and P3DV4+.

This will be the team’s second version of the WW2 German medium bomber, having previously included an example of the type in a Battle of Britain package created for CFS3.
