DBMK Developing Sabre Day Fighter Kit Series in 1/32 Scale

In addition to a newly announced series of Allison-powered Mustang models, DBMK has also announced the development of a Sabre Day Fighter series, also in 1/32 scale.

The Sabre day fighter family centered on the F-86A, F-86E, and F-86F, which were the gun-armed versions used in Korea and the best-known combat Sabres. The A was the first production model, the E added the all-flying tailplane for better handling, and the F refined the design further; Canadair, Orenda-powered Canadian, and CAC Australian versions extended the same basic day-fighter line with local improvements.

As of this writing additional details are non-existent, although the series will apparently include the F-86A. E, F, & Canadair Sabre Mk.4.

Airfix Commemorates D-Day With New Hawker Typhoon / Eurofighter Typhoon Twin Pack

Airfix recently released a Typhoon twin pack model kit containing a Eurofighter Typhoon FGR.4 “Moggy” and Hawker Typhoon Mk.Ib in 1/72 scale.

The offering (A40001) boasts 117 pieces and D-Day liveries for each aircraft. The Hawker Typhoon representing 1944 No.257 (Burma) Squadron and the Eurofighter Typhoon representing ZJ913 of the RAF Typhoon Display Team from the 2024 season.

The striking design on Typhoon FGR.4 ZJ913 was inspired by the RAF No.257 (Burma) Squadron Hawker Typhoon Mk.Ib, piloted by Officer Denzil Jenkins during the D-Day landings on 6th June 1944, featuring the iconic black and white identification stripes that were a hallmark of Allied aircraft over Normandy on D-Day. This was a brilliant move by the RAF PR team, and this aircraft captivated millions during the subsequent airshow season, at commemorative events in both the UK and France, and during a successful Canadian tour.

The kits are rated as level 2 builds, making them ideal for modelers ages 8 and above.

1977 Beech Baron 58 Turboprop Conversion Project Offered For Sale

A 1977 Beechcraft Baron 58TC turboprop project has been spotted for sale.

According to the listing, the aircraft began as a 1977 Beechcraft Baron 58TC (S/N TK46) with 1,531 hours total time and no damage history, later converted into an experimental single‑engine turbine “Czechmate” (N1NF) after being acquired via lien auction in 1989 with full FAA chain of title. The build replaces the twin piston configuration with a 750 HP Walter M601D turboprop, incorporating extensive structural modifications inspired by Beech’s factory Lightning prototypes, including a custom engine mount, reinforced nose structure, and high-quality carbon fiber cowling with advanced induction and cooling systems. The airframe retains the strengthened 58TC features (6200 lb gross weight, extended fuel capacity, heavy-duty landing gear, and corrosion-proofed structure) and includes a 5-blade reversible prop, deice systems, air conditioning, KFC200 autopilot, and complete interior. The project is largely complete with major fabrication finished, but requires engine overhaul, fuel cells, paint, avionics, and final assembly, and is offered with molds, tooling, spare parts, and documentation as a high-performance turbine conversion project capable of 250+ knot cruise.

The aircraft is located in Hastings, Florida and is currently available for US $169,000. Click here to check out the eBay listing, which includes many additional photos and details.

Revell Announces New Tool, State-of-the-Art 1/32 Harrier Kit

Today, Revell announced “Project Harrier” which will see the development of a new tool “state-of-the-art” Hawker Siddeley Harrier model kit in 1/32 scale.

As a new twist, Revell will be bringing modelers along on the development journey with a behind-the-scenes look at the process via blog posts, monthly YouTube updates, etc. Work began in late March with setup, including aligning scans and creating the cross-sectional planes that the designer uses to create the “skeleton” model. In addition to the aircraft itself, the company will be developing a separate engine and display trolley for inclusion with the kit.

To date, the development team has gathered data from Harriers based at RAF Wittering Heritage Centre and Gatwick Aviation Museum. Release is planned for Autumn 2027.

Piper Mojave Project For Sale: “Well Equipped, Pressurized and AC”

A Piper Mojave PA-31P project has been spotted for sale.

According to the listing, the aircraft features air conditioning, de-ice, Garmin avionics (GMX 200, GNS 430 WAAS, GTX 335, GDL 69A), weather radar, autopilot, and a well-kept leather interior. It is being sold as a project aircraft after a catastrophic left engine failure (thrown rod destroyed the engine, damaged cowling, and caused minor wing impact), with no core value remaining for the damaged engine. A documented Part 145 repair estimate of about $100,000 includes a replacement low-time Lycoming and full return-to-service, presenting an opportunity to acquire a typically mid-$300K-class aircraft at a significantly reduced entry cost, either as-is or for restoration by a qualified buyer.

The aircraft is located in Tustin, California and is currently being offered for US $199,000, although offers are also being accepted. Click here to check out the eBay listing, which includes additional photos and details.
