First Look: Airfix’s New Tool Bristol Beaufort, Complete Build

Airfix has released the first images showing a completed example of their upcoming new tool Beaufort Mk.I model kit in 1/72 scale.

The new images focus on the two liveries that will be included in the kit, which represent a Mk.I N1016, piloted by Flying Officer Kenneth Campbell VC of 22 Squadron in 1941 and Mk.I L9866, flown by Sgt. John Bell Rutherford of 217 Squadron, RAF.

As previously reported, additional details on the upcoming kit (A04021) are currently scarce, although it is expected to be released “very early in the new year.” Click below to check out additional images of the complete builds/livery options, as well as the newly revealed box art.

Revell Releases New Bristol Beaufighter Night Fighter Kit

Revell has released its new night fighter version of the Bristol Beaufighter in 1/48 scale.

As previously reported, the new offering (03854) is a updated version of the new tool Beaufighter (03943) released in 2018 and reportedly includes new parts, a cockpit with consoles and instrument panel, separate rudder, V-tail with separate elevators, detailed Hercules engines and separate ailerons and flaps.

The “Level 5” kit consists of 188 parts and measures 266 mm in length with a 367 mm span.

Airfix Releases New “Civilian Schemes” Spitfire FR Mk.XIV Kit

Airfix has released its new 1/48 Spitfire FR Mk.XIV model kit which features racing liveries.

The offering (A05139) is based on the new tool FR Mk.XIV kit (A05135) released in 2019 and includes marking options for G-FIRE, (Duxford, Cambridgeshire, England, 1988) and CF-GMZ (‘Edmonton Canada, The Crossroads of the World’, Canada, 1949).

New Release: Eduard ProfiPACK Spitfire Mk.1a Model Kit

Eduard has released their new ProfiPACK edition Spitfire Mk.Ia model kit in 1/48 scale.

The kit (82151) includes Eduard plastic parts and decals, pre-painted photo etched details and a painting mask. Liveries are also included for seven machines: P9386, S/Ldr Brian J. Lane of 19 Squadron; X4253, P/O Wilfred G. Duncan Smith of 611 Squadron; X4828, F/Lt Wojciech Kolaczkowski of 303 Squadron; R6709, P/O Colin Falkland Gray of RNZAF 54 Squadron; N3250, P/O/ Allan R. Wright of 92 Squadron; R6690, P/O/ John C. Dundas of 609 Squadron and R6835, F/O Brian J. Carbury of 603 Squadron.

First Look: Liveries For Eduard’s New ProfiPACK Spitfire Mk.1a

Eduard has released new details on their upcoming ProfiPACK edition Spitfire Mk.Ia model kit in 1/48 scale (82151).

The latest update focuses on the seven livery options to be included in the offering. They represent P9386, S/Ldr Brian J. Lane of 19 Squadron; X4253, P/O Wilfred G. Duncan Smith of 611 Squadron; X4828, F/Lt Wojciech Kolaczkowski of 303 Squadron; R6709, P/O Colin Falkland Gray of RNZAF 54 Squadron; N3250, P/O/ Allan R. Wright of 92 Squadron; R6690, P/O/ John C. Dundas of 609 Squadron and R6835, F/O Brian J. Carbury of 603 Squadron.

AZ Model Releases Two “Complete New Tool” DH 103 Hornet Model Kits

AZ Model has released the first two of their four “complete new tool” model kits of the DH.103 Hornet in 1/72 scale.

The two new releases represent the F.Mk.I (AZ7651), PR.Mk.2 (AZ7652) with each including three post-war livery options. The F.Mk.I kit features decals for PX 284 “Black H” of 65 Squadron; PX 275 “White GO-F” of Central Fighter Establishment and PX 216 “Black WA-TN,” the personal aircraft of Wing Commander W.A. “Tiny” Neale. The PR.Mk.2 kit offers options for PX 216 “White R” of CFS Handling Squadron; VA 964, used for crash barrier trials and VA 966 of CFS Handling Squadron. The kits appears to consist of grey and clear plastic parts.

F.Mk.3 (AZ7653) and FR.Mk.4 (AZ7654) kits are reportedly slated for future release.

Airfix Offers First Look At Sprues For New Tool Canadair Sabre Mk.4

Airfix has provided the first images of the sprues for their upcoming Canadair Sabre Mk.4 model kit (A08109) in 1/48 scale.

As previously reported, many months of work to create the most accurate model possible. This included scanning a suitable aircraft at the Norwegian Armed Forces Aircraft Collection in Oslo, taking measurements and detailed photographs and delving into the history of this particular machine. The compiled information was then used to create a 3D CAD version of the aircraft that serves as the base model shell.

The new images capture the first test frames produced for the kit, and are still subject to modification before the final product is released. The kit is currently slated for release in the winter of 2020-21. Click below to check out a selection of the newly released images.

Special Hobby Shares Update For Upcoming 1/32 Westland Whirlwind

Special Hobby has shared new set of renderings for their upcoming Westland Whirlwind Mk.1 model kit in 1/32 scale.

The kit’s (SH32047) development has been talked about for some time in the modeling community and its release is anxiously awaited. Previous updates have focused on the molds, which are reportedly being created using an electroplating process sometimes also known as galvanic deposition, and test fittings of parts.

The company states that the 3D data is now ready, and has released new renderings showing early and late cockpits. The cockpit itself will reportedly be “very detailed” with the kit boasting both plastic parts and PE fret. Click below to see more.

Dora Wings Releases New Tool Miles M.9 Master Mk.1 Model Kit

Among the latest releases from Dora Wings is a new Miles M.9 Master Mk.1 model kit in 1/72 scale.

The kit content photo suggests that the new tool offering (DW48033) includes plastic and photo-etched parts and a painting mask. Livery options for four machines are also included, representing N7412 (the first prototype of the machine from 1938), T8629 of 5 Service Flying Training School, N7576 of 8 FTS, RAF and N7547 of Fleet Air Arm training units.
