“One of a Kind, High Performance” XP-Talon Offered For Sale

A “one-of-a-kind” 2011 XP-Talon experimental homebuilt aircraft has hit the market. The machine is described as a high performance sport airplane which is said to look like a cross between a Mustang and a Spitfire.

It is all metal and is powered by a 400 cu.in aluminum Chevy Type Rodeck V-8 engine. The Talon sports a 74″ Hartzell constant speed propeller via a Geschwender 1.7:1 reduction unit. Engine cooling is accomplished with a Griffin radiator under each wind. The oil is cooled through two oil coolers mounted in the cowling. The engine was dyno’d at 420HP and uses a dry sump with a large oil tank behind the rear seat. Fuel is carried in two tanks in each wing for a total of 60 gallons. Fuel burn is 12-15 GPH depending on power settings. It is fuel injected by an Airflow-Performance System. At 3600 Engine RPM and 22″ MP it trues-out at 210 MPH.

Overhauled carb in 2016, Rebuilt OLEO Struts at 2018 Annual, September 2019 Annual needed nothing but an oil drain plug! Overhauled Carb in 2016, Rebuit OLEO Struts at 2018 Annual. Family owned since 1994. Still has original military data plate! Electric System (No hand propping) 12V plug in it to keep your electrics charged! 2/3 scale nearing completion. LS-1 engine, 4-blade prop with PSRU and ignition system. Like new condition engine. Includes a digital com radio. Nacogdoches, TX I do have the prop spinner. Prop is ground adjustable. HiVo chain prop speed reduction unit. This is not a kit. This plans built plane has never been flown, never had a different engine but will also take a ranger engine. Have cowlings for Ranger engine-cowlings for the LS-1 have not been fabricated. Never been damaged. Wings removed easily for transport.

Damaged 2015 Pietenpol Air Camper with 92hrs TT; engine, propeller, and the engine mount are not included. Skin removed from the lower portions of the wings and portion of the fuselage for inspection. To my best knowledge the damages are limited to: lower cowling, landing gear legs, landing gear bracket, left wing – minor damage to the 1 rib (during aircraft transport), right wing – 2 ribs, 1 wing strut – slightly bent.
