“Beautifully Restored” 1952 Beechcraft Expeditor 3MN Offered For Sale

A “beautifully restored” 1952 Beechcraft Expeditor 3MN (S/N CA-104 / N7185) has hit the market.

Originally built as a 3NM Navigation Trainer for the Royal Canadian Air Force, this beautiful Beech-18 was returned to SNB-5 configuration during a 2000-01 restoration. Sold by the RCAF in the late 70’s, it subsequently went through a number of owners but has never been a freighter.

The airframe reportedly has 6970 hrs TTSN (628.9 Hrs since restoration by General Aviation Services), while the two Pratt & Whitney R985 AN-1 engines have 628.9 hrs SMOH by Covington (11/04/98). The aircraft reportedly includes an avionics package, Shadin Digiflo-L fuel flow, co-pilot instruments, 286 gallons of fuel (giving an approximate seven hours endurance with a maximum take-off weight of 9300 lbs), authentic 1950’s USMC paint scheme and a comfortable six-place leather executive interior featuring a couch, writing table, headphone jacks and power outlets.

The machine was featured in the May/June 2016 issue of Warbirds Digest as well as the 2011 Ghosts calendar (Nov.) and was even the subject of a die-cast model. It is located in Texas and is currently being offered for US$199,500. Click here to check out the complete listing.

A 1956 DeHavilland DHC-2 Mk1 Beaver (originally constructed as military model L20/U6A) has hit the market. The listing states (in part):

EDO 77-4050 amphib floats (big wheels, heavy duty hydraulics) customized by Kenmore (STC SA3680NM). Only 6000 TTAF, 1060 SMOH, 40 SPOH (2017 O/H). Garmin 430, King KX155 COM, audible landing gear alert system and much more (see STC list). Tip tanks (115 Imp Gals total capacity). Never operated commercially. 5730lbs GW increase STC. Always hangared. Excellent maintenance since imported to Canada from USA in 2006. Extensive & comprehensive documentation and all ADs complied with. Basic empty weight 3833 lbs. The airframe reportedly has 4750 TTSN (300 hrs since restoration), while the two Pratt & Whitney R-985 SB Wasp Jr. engines each have 300 hrs SMOH. Additional features include an avionics package, restored interior with 7 pax configuration (all executive chairs) as well as a 3 pax bench to provide an 8 pax configuration.

Italeri has released a lockheed T-33A Shooting Star model kit in 1/72 scale.

The kit (1444) is described as a version of the Platz T-33 released in 2012 with new decals. A total of seven liveries are offered representing machines in American (2), Italian, German, French, Spanish, and Greek-Hellenic service.

A 1984 L-39C project with “full logs since day one” and “only 1400TT since new” has hit the market as part of a package along with a Rockwell Sabreliner and two engines. The listing states (in part):

Original engine was hot started and donated to a museum, not included. We are including a 1981 Rockwell Sabreliner with 2 low time Honeywell Garrett TFE731-3R-1D engines. Convert this L-39 to the reliable American engine and sell off the 2nd one. The L-39C airframe is undamaged and on shipping fixtures ready to ship. The Sabreliner is still together and will need to be disassembled and hauled away.

A “Genuine U.S. Navy” T-2C Buckeye flight trainer cockpit has been spotted for sale. The listing states (in part):

This does not currently function as a flight sim and is for static display. It could possibly be converted to a working sim. The cockpit/instrument lights illuminate, canopy opens and closes wit air pressure from a separate air compressor and the ejection seat adjust up/down. This is an actual training device that was used to train Navy and Marine Corps pilots. A piece of Naval Aviation history. Has been restored but keep in mind this unit is over 40 years old and has some age, wear and handling issues that affect appearance.

For Sale: Restored Bell 47 D-1, Screen Used Star of M*A*S*H* TV Series

1951 Bell 47 D-1 S/N 263 (N5167V), star of the famous TV show M.A.S.H., has hit the market.

The machine was originally constructed by Bell in July 1951 and went on to see use as a U.S. Navy trainer. In 1958 it became surplus and was acquired by Adrian Grieve in 1972, who rebuilt it to Bell specifications and received a Standard Airworthiness Certificate in 1973. ​

S/N 263 was used in various action movies. Its most notable role was starring in the hit television show M.A.S.H. In the opening scene where two helicopters are flying formation, 263 is closest to the camera, In the second scene, 263 is the second helicopter on approach to the landing pads. During the ten years that M.A.S.H. was filmed, 263 was utilized many times both as set dressing and in flying scenes. 263 was utilized in the final departure scene of the final episode, one of the most watched TV episodes of all time.

Folloing the conclusion of the series, 263 was sold and used for crop dusting and cattle counting. It was then sold to the current owner who restored it back to its original M.A.S.H.
