First Look: DBMK’s Supermarine Seafire F/FR Mk 47 Renders

DBMK has released a new series of renderings for their upcoming Supermarine Seafire F/FR Mk 47 in 1/32 scale.

The F/FR Mk 47 was the final and most advanced Seafire variant, a Royal Navy carrier fighter derived from the Spitfire Mk 24. It used a powerful Griffon engine with contra-rotating propellers, folding wings, and could carry bombs, rockets, or a reconnaissance fit, making it a fast but short-range fleet-defense and strike aircraft that entered service just after World War II.

Details are currently limited, although DBMK states that the upcoming kit will include many 3D printed features, including the cockpit and one piece intake. Click below to check out additional renders.

KP to Release New Seafire Mk.Ib Kits, 3 Separate Boxings Announced

Kovozávody Prostĕjov (KP) is planning the release of three separate Supermarine Seafire Mk.Ib model kits in 1/72 scale.

The kit reportedly uses the basic moldings of the company’s Spitfire Mk.I / V model with the addition of “a completely new frame made of metal mold with different parts.” The offerings will include two Supermarine Seafire Mk.Ib boxings (KPM0238 / KPM023) and Supermarine Seafire Mk.Ib, USAAF (KPM0241).

Freightdog Models To Release Supermarine Seafire Mk Ib Model Kit

Freightdog Models has announced a Supermarine Seafire Mk.Ib model kit in 1/72 scale.

The offering, which is described as “a cooperation with Kovozavody Prostejov,” will reportedly be a “complete kit,” wit injection moulded HQT plastic, additional resin conversion parts and Fantasy Printshop decals for two early and late schemes.

Durafly Releases New Supermarine Seafire Mk IIB 1100mm RC Model in “What If” Colors

Durafly has released a new, 1100mm Supermarine Seafire Mk IIB plug and fly RC model.

The aircraft was designed with a “what if” color scheme similar to the planes flown by US Navy airmen in the Pacific Fleet and includes “three different, unique sets of decals.” Additional features reportedly include scale parts, faithfully reproduced split flaps, servoless electric retracts, a scale outline, ball links on all controls, fine surface detail and a premier paint finish along with an operating LED navigation system.

Scale performance and maneuverability are said to be provided by a Aerostar 3536 770KV Brushless motor with an Aerostar 50A ESC, while a large rudder, steerable tailwheel and forward raked main gear reportedly provide improved ground handling and “easier and more scale-like” takeoffs and landings.

Restored Vickers-Supermarine Seafire PP972 Offered For Sale

Vickers-Supermarine 358 Seafire LF.IIIC PP972/G-BUAR has hit the market.

The aircraft is said to be one of only three remaining airworthy Seafires in the world and the only Merlin-powered Seafire to see combat. It was originally built under contract by Westland Aircraft, Ltd. in 1944 and was assigned to 809 (Naval) Squadron, which was deployed to the Far East and participated in Operations Dracula, Bishop, Balsam and Zipper.

In 1946 the machine was assigned to 767 (Naval) Squadron, part of No.1 Operational Flying School at RNAS Easthaven, before being transferred to the French Navy, where it served with No.1 Flottille at Hyeres.

The aircraft was reportedly restored to airworthy condition by Air Leasing, Ltd. from 2012-2015 and now represents a Seafire of 880 (Naval) Squadron Serving aboard HMS Implacable. The airframe, engine and propeller are said to have amassed a total of 15 hours since ground-up professional restoration/overhaul.

The machine is currently based in the UK and is said to be accompanied by “complete documentation of all work and updates per current CAA Regulations.” Seller must be contacted for pricing details. Click here to check out the complete listing.
