Douglas A-26B Invader N99420 (S/N 44-34104) “Silver Dragon” has hit the market.

The airframe reportedly has 2,486 TT (12,000 man hour hour restoration from 2004-2009, extensive 3,000 man hour IRAN completed by Airpower Unlimited, 2016) while the two Pratt and Whitney R-2800-79 engines have 127.7 and 106.2 hrs SMOH (22 hrs since complete teardown and IRAN by Anderson Airmotive). The props have 22 hrs SPOH by H&S Propeller (prop AD completed July 2017).

The aircraft is described as one of the last existing examples of the type that is in its combat configuration, having never been a tanker or converted to executive use.

It left USAF surplus stocks directly for the Nicaraguan Air Force where it served as a front-line aircraft until the late 1970s. During this time maintenance was performed under the Military Assistance Program at Albrook AFB, Panama, including the installation of an approved spar strap. Since its return to the United States it has been left in its combat configuration, a virtual time capsule, perfect for the warbird collector or operator that wants a true combat configured aircraft.

A-26B Project Relisted For Sale: “Complete, Great For Display, Restoration or Parts”

A “complete” Douglas A-26B Invader S/N 4139486 (N26VQ) has been relisted for sale. The listing states (in part):

Would be a great display aircraft, restoration or for parts. I do not have a parts list for the airplane. Has military paperwork. No civilian log books… Lot of New old stock parts at this airplane. Too many to list. Anyone that’s interested in buying this project needs to inspect the aircraft before purchasing. The wings are damaged from a wingstorm from sitting outside. This airplane also includes a semi truck trailer to move the fuselage. The aircraft is stored inside, with the engines and props. But the wings are outside. This is a stock A-26 so it has the military parts with it, including gun sights, ammo cans, Bombay doors and much more… No gun turrets. Second set of cockpit controls.

This particular A-26 reportedly has military history, serving in WW2 and in Korea under the name “BOOTS II” from Missouri Air National Guard (MO ANG). The seller states “I would like to sell everything together. However I may consider selling individual parts. Will consider flying aircraft on trade. Looking for a twin Bonanza.”
