Please Note: This is an archived post. The information presented here may not be current and the associated listing may no longer be active.

A 1941 Clipped Wing Piper J3C project (Serial Number 6943 C.A.A. / Identification Number 38333) has been spotted for sale. The listing states (in part):

The airplane currently has wings built with Taylorcraft BC-12D wing ribs for a more symmetrical shape and enhanced inverted performance. The wings have been rebuilt with full span ailerons which should give a spectacular roll rate. The aircraft currently has a Lycoming O360 engine with a Christen inverted oil system and Sensenich W78HM650 propeller. The aircraft was taken out of service in 2008 and the fuselage was recovered. New Maule tailwheel, control surface cables, new main tires. Personal opinion, the aircraft covering should be removed, the steel tubular inspected, repainted and the entire airplane recovered. The aircraft has a main fuel tank, header fuel tank and had wing fuel tanks for ferry flights. The aircraft comes with an extra set of clipped J3 wings with Taylorcraft BC-12D postwar stamped rib wings and one extra set of metalized ailerons from a clipped wing cub… Special Experimental Exhibition Airworthiness Certificate. Original Airframe Logbook lost. Current logbook begins 1976. Current total time 3,909.05 Hours. Lycoming O-360 L515036 major overhaul 1967 with 826 hours SMOH. Aircraft is disassembled, and the wings are uncovered.

The aircraft is located in Casper, Wyoming and is currently available for bidding. Click here to check out the listing on eBay, which incvludes an abundance of additional ddetails and photos.

Full Scale, Static Spitfire Mk IX Reproduction For Sale: “Highly Detailed, Museum Quality”

Please Note: This is an archived post. The information presented here may not be current and the associated listing may no longer be active.

A full-scale, static Spitfire Mk IX reproduction has been spotted for sale. The listing states (in part):

It’s taken over four years to build and now it’s time for a new keeper! This is a hand-built replica that is timber-framed and over-topped with fibreglass. It isn’t a moulded replica but was made as a one-man project that has taken thousands of hours – and some sweat and tears.

A web search will find the Spitfire story and interviews with me about it. The Spitfire will feature in a new book telling its story, ‘How to Build a Spitfire’, which is to be published in January 2024 by Head of Zeus. It’s an aircraft with a back story! It is designed as a static display and not as a travelling exhibition piece, but it could be adapted to suit needs. Quite heavy in parts.

Cockpit – fairly complete but needs few more items to make it perfect.

The reproduction is located in Carlisle, UK and is currently available for bidding. Click here to check out the listing on eBay.
