For Sale: 1931 Waco QCF-2 “Ground Up Rebuild/Restoration in 2006”

1931 Waco QCF-2 S/N 3487 (N11247) is available for sale.

An original QCF-2 that underwent a ground up rebuild/restoration in 2006 at 1037 TTAF. Complete with a Continental W670 220hp engine and Curtiss Reid propeller this F-2 is without a doubt the most strikingly detailed and functional classic Waco available today.

The airframe has 1150 TTSN (115 Hrs. since restoration), while the Continental W-670-6A engine has 115 hrs SMOH. The Curtiss Reed Model 55501-S propeller has 115 SPOH. The machine includes an avionics package and boasts a number of additional features, such as “black leather seats (excellent condition), front and rear cockpit Hooker Harness four point seat belt/dual “Y” type shoulder harness, front and rear stick mounted Push to Talk switches, front and rear cockpit covers, dual toe brakes, Jasco alternator, Cleveland wheels and brakes and RR Russ tail wheel.”

Kermit Weeks Releases Part 2 of His Lockheed Vega Project Update [Video]

Kermit Weeks has released part 2 of his new video series documenting the progress on his Lockheed Vega project.

This particular aircraft was purchased from Dave Jameson after Hurricane Andrew devastated Weeks’ Polk City, Florida collection in 1992. In arrived at Fantasy of Flight in 1995 and, having not flown in over a decade, was placed on static display. In 2012, restoration was begun by Kevin Kimball, but Weeks eventually had to postpone the project “due to various distractions.” The project commenced once again in September 2019.

Part 1 of the series deals with the fuselage frame work and can be seen here. Part 2 covers the making of the fuselage skin and can be seen below.

“Barn Find” 1939 Aeronca 65C Super Chief Project For Sale

A “barn find” 1939 Aeronca 65C Super Chief project has been spotted for sale. The listing states:

Barn find. Looks complete but needs work. Aircraft will have FAA bill of sale, and has current registration. Serial number is 4939. I am told the Super Chief has a larger A65 engine and might be a little more rare. At least some of the wood spars have rot, but I am told new spars are available at Aircraft Spruce. At least two wing ribs have rodent damage. Fabric was cotton and not good. Fuselage wood stringers are bowed from dope shrinkage, but wood bulkheads look good (see pic). Cowl and nose bowl are there (nose bowl is on top of one wing, see pic). Wood prop and prop retainer goes with it, but don’t know prop condition. Currently, brake lining is stuck onto brake drums.
