Fokker D VIII 3/4 replica with 50hp hirth. Has 20 hours on engine from testing and taking. Have wings off inside for storage and transport. Lots of extra hardware and rebuild parts to keep you going. Was working on in 2020, then got stationed at Andrews AFB and in class B airspace that is VFR restricted so can not fly, now being re assigned over seas so need to downsize. Have floats for experimental that I was going to modify for this, if interested $500 for floats off a challenger II

Modified Airdrome Aeroplanes Fokker D.VIII Offered For Sale

A modified 3/4 Airdrome Aeroplanes Fokker D.VIII has hit the market.

According to the listing, the machine “flies nice and pretty much hands off.” It reportedly received its airworthiness certificate on 1/23/2019 and is “stage 1 with 15 of 40 hours flown.” The machine is described as incorporating “all AN hardware” and “a new ground adjustable 3 blade Kiev propeller,” as well as additional modifications:

…modifications include adding brakes (didn’t come with any). Mountain bike brakes were used as they were suitable for the weight. Changed the axle lateral locating system from wire to sliding rod. The kits were originally built using a Rotax 503 engine which is no longer available, so a Hirth F23 engine (with the ok from the kit manufacturer was installed). It has same HP but is 10 lbs lighter. The engine had zero time. All aluminum panels are attached with screws and nut plates for serviceability instead of pop rivets. Aircraft avionics are per VFR with Mode C Garmin transponder and is set up for hand held radio.

Up for auction an Airdrome Aeroplanes Fokker DVIII kit build. very well built, Great paint job, instrument panel, electric start , Hirth 2 cylinder / 2 stroke engine 53hp , Hirth fuel injection system, g50 gear reduction. Wings are removed for storage but mount quickly. Lot’s of skill, time and effort went into this build. Proven 20 years plus design with many flying examples. The DVIII kit alone without engine, instruments,prop,etc. cost $5995.00 plus shipping. The plane has been taxi’ed and some runs but not flown or registered. Low starting bid of $999.00.

GoPro Footage Takes You On a Flight Aboard a Gnome-Powered Fokker D.VIII [Video]

Using a pair of GoPro cameras, Christopher Ford captured remarkable on-board footage of Brian Coughlin’s Fokker E.V/D.VIII as it flew over New York’s Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome in 2015.

This Gnome rotary-powered aircraft is the second of three Fokker D.VIII replicas Brian has built over the years. His first is now part of a private collection in California, and his third, the most accurate of the trio complete with lozenge printed fabric and accurate wing streaking, was just recently completed.
