An F-4 Phantom “cockpit section and tail fin” has been spotted for sale. The listing states (in part):
Full cockpit section of ex RAF F4 Phantom FGR2, reg number XT907, professionally cut from the airframe and mounted onto a steel frame with wheels for easier moving. Cockpit section comes complete with ejector seats and most of the original instrumentation in place in both pilot and navigator seating positions. Also included is the full tail fin from the aircraft, displaying 74 squadron markings, which was the last RAF squadron to operate the Phantom. I have also acquired over the years a collection of most of the other instruments which would be needed to complete the cockpit, which could be negotiated separately to the sale of the cockpit section. Original tech log included, which shows some of the history of the aircraft… The cockpit section is in “original condition” and has not been touched or altered since it was decommissioned by the RAF. As such there would be some work required in order to bring it back to a fully restored “pristine” state. Nothing structural needs doing as the aircraft is completely sound, but it would benefit from an external repaint and cleaning and/or refurbishment of the cockpit interior.
