1950 Chance Vought F4U-5NL D-FCOR (S/N 124541) is available for sale.
The -5 Series Corsairs were the first post-war model of the type, and have been described as the nicest of all to fly. Approximately six examples remain in airworthy condition today. This particular machine is a Korean War veteran that flew with VMF-513 “Flying Nightmares.” It was sold to the Argentine Navy after retirement from US service and served in the Argentine Armada with 2nd Esquadrilla de Ataque, being assigned to the Argentinian aircraft carrier Independencia. On 6 November 1964 it was involved in a landing accident and was subsequently retired.
The aircraft was stored in the Naval Museum (El Tigre) as a gateguard before being acquired by Max-Alpha Aviation GmbH in 2009. It was extensively flown throughout Europe during the 2010 season and then restored back to its original -5 configuration by Meier Motors.
