A “museum owned, damaged, cheap” Stearman PT-17 is currently available for sale.

The machine is reportedly owned by the Palm Springs Air Museum and was used for airshows, displays and rides until it “lost power just after takeoff” while conducting a passenger flight.

The experienced pilot turned the airplane back to the airport and made a hard, mostly controlled landing, which seriously damaged the fron t of the airplane. The failure was determined to be a fuel line which had collapsed, blocking flow to the engine.

The Stearman is located in Arizona and is currently available for US $8,995, although bids are also being accepted. Click here to check out the complete listing on eBay, which provides additional history and details damage sustained.
