“One of a Kind, High Performance” XP-Talon Offered For Sale

A “one-of-a-kind” 2011 XP-Talon experimental homebuilt aircraft has hit the market. The machine is described as a high performance sport airplane which is said to look like a cross between a Mustang and a Spitfire.

It is all metal and is powered by a 400 cu.in aluminum Chevy Type Rodeck V-8 engine. The Talon sports a 74″ Hartzell constant speed propeller via a Geschwender 1.7:1 reduction unit. Engine cooling is accomplished with a Griffin radiator under each wind. The oil is cooled through two oil coolers mounted in the cowling. The engine was dyno’d at 420HP and uses a dry sump with a large oil tank behind the rear seat. Fuel is carried in two tanks in each wing for a total of 60 gallons. Fuel burn is 12-15 GPH depending on power settings. It is fuel injected by an Airflow-Performance System. At 3600 Engine RPM and 22″ MP it trues-out at 210 MPH.

The aircraft is located in Prineville, Oregon and is currently being offered for US $194,500, although offers are also being accepted. Click here to check out the complete listing on eBay.
