An extremely rare P-38 project has hit the market.

According to the listing, the aircraft (S/N 42-104088, C/N 422-2922, N38LL, Scatterbrain Kid II) is a P-38J-15-LO that was accepted at Lockheed in Burbank, California on 8 January 1944 and assigned to the 370th Fighter Group (FG) / 9th Air Force. It was listed as “condemned salvaged” due to battle damage on 1 August 1944. Following the war it reportedly passed through the hands of several owners before it was fully restored, returning to the air in 1992. Sadly it crashed on takeoff in 1994 and was subsequently dismantled and stored.

The package consists of a damaged aircraft, many extra parts and is packed for shipping wooden crates and on pallets. The Center section of the aircraft and one tail boom have been rebuilt by West Pac in Colorado to an extremely high standard.

The project is located in Breckenridge, TX and is currently being offered for $1,500,000. Click here to check out the listing, which includes a detailed history and project photos.

A full-scale Spitfire Mk.IX static reproduction has been spotted for sale. The listing states (in part):

Newly built, highly detailed static replica suitable for a variety of purposes. This museum quality reproduction has been painstakingly created over the last 3 years taking over 2,500 hours of work. The GRP is graded to last over 25 years and longer if kept painted. Flying surfaces are fixed to prevent water ingress. Viewable cockpit interior, not absolutely complete but very convincing. Tyres are real and inflated on plywood rims which turn on robust steel axels. Tailwheel is non-operable but towing dolly available with sale… Finished in the colours of 74 Sqn, PV144 was flown by Squadron Leader Hayter in the ground attack role in late 1944.

The reproduction is located in Carlisle, United Kingdom and is currently available for £28,950, although offers are also being accepted. Click here to check out the listing on eBay.

A de Havilland T11 Vampire (WZ450 C/N 15037) described as a “complete project well on its way to completion” has been spotted for sale. The listing states (in part):

WZ450 was going through a beautiful restoration with two things in mind. One a working aircraft less engine. Two long term was to get the engine running and taxi. Unfortunately the group has folded and I am forced to find the Vampire a new home. The cockpit has been nicely restored. A wiring loom was in planning but not started yet. Some instruments had been cut in the past. And so do need some attention to repiping. A lot of the pneumatics system has been sourced and the canopy opens and closes well. The wings are currently on but will need to be removed for transport. The control linkages were being worked on just a week ago. Included is a spare landing gear set, spare main fuel tank and spare booms. The engine is in the DH stand awaiting clean up. But the fan blade turns freely and nice looking condition. The windscreen is plastic, but included in a brand new screen still in its wax coating yet to be fitted.

The project is located in Shropshire, United Kingdom and is currently available for bidding. Click here to check out the listing on eBay.
