Copper State Models has released new renderings of their upcoming Bristol Scout model kit in 1/32 scale.

The company states that the model was developed with support and guidance of David Bremner, who constructed a flying reproduction of the type in the colors of his grandfather’s machine (1264). They plan to discuss the final version of this model with David to avoid any inaccuracies and note that the new images are not the final renders of the model.

Additional details are currently limited, although 1264 will be included as a livery in the upcoming release. If all goes well, the kit will be released this year. Click below to check out additional renderings.

For details on David Bremner’s full-scale Bristol Scout reproduction, see The Flying Machine #3.

A second 1940 Piper J4A Cub Coupe project has also been spotted for sale. The listing states (in part):

1940 Piper J4A “Cub Coupe” project, undamaged bare wings, fuselage and surfaces, plus other parts!… The logbook that we received with the airplane only goes through 1971 and shows 847 hours, but there may have been an additional logbook after that we didn’t receive. This aircraft appears to have been fully disassembled and the fabric stripped from an undamaged airplane, as there does not seem to be any obvious recent repairs, nor is there any damage visible to the fuselage structure or the wings! Spars, ribs, channels and reinforcements in the wings look textbook! Even the leading edges look good! The horizontals, elevators and rudder are uncovered, but also show no damage… It is obvious that, although lots of parts are included, most in great condition, not every part is here.

This project is also located in Minneapolis, Minnesota and is available for bidding. Click here to check out the listing on eBay, where you will also find an abundance of additional photos and details.

A 1940 Piper J-4A Cub Coupe project has been spotted for sale. The listing states (in part):

1940 Piper J-4A Cub Coupe on EDO 1320 floats, c-85, wind damage, great, unique project!… C-85 engine time now since major overhaul in 1994 is 625 SMOH! Total airframe time is only 2285 SNEW! Wings were recovered in Ceconite in 2008. Fuselage and surfaces were recovered in Ceconite in 2013 and complete repaint. Univair sealed lift struts installed in 2013. Last annual inspection just expired April 1 2022, 2 months ago, this is not a sitter! And not an accident, although there is some damage. This aircraft was tied to a dock when a high wind pushed it partially out of the water and into some bushes… This is a very easily repairable airplane, without “crash” damage.

The aircraft is located in Minneapolis, Minnesota and is currently available for bidding. Click here to check out the listing on eBay, which includes a number of additional photos as well as additional details, including a damage overview.

A Pratt and Whitney R-4360-4W radial engine described in the listing as “Hughes Aircraft Owned” has been spotted for sale. The listing states (in part):

Up for sale is a Pratt and Whitney R-4360-4W 28 Cylinder 3000 horsepower Radial Engine. Manufacture number is P3079… I pulled one of the top cylinders and found zero corrosion on the inside. I did not pull all 28… The original logbooks are missing. I believe them to have been kept by Hughes Aircraft. The first model R4360-4A engine was used on the H4 Hercules. This engine is an R4360-4W. (wet rating)… The Navy’s Martin Aircraft AM-1 used these 4W engines and I believe this is where the engine started its life. The big question is what aircraft was this used on at Hughes and what was Hughes doing with it? I do not for sure know… It comes with 3 boxes of spare parts some in their original packaging. It also comes with a letter from the Summa corporation where this engine was donated to the Boy Scouts of America in 1984 from Hughes Aircraft… I’m selling this engine as a non working R4360-4W engine… Not for aircraft use. I haven’t torn down the engine to see what is or isn’t missing. It is an unbelievable piece of history that is in great shape!

The engine is located in Conway, Arkansas and is currently available for US $120,000, although offers are also being accepted. Click here to check out the listing on eBay, which includes additional info and photos.
